Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles This is the lock picking lawyer, and what I have for you today is a V A veil. Oh, folding bike lock. Now, at 24. 99 on Amazon, this is a relatively low cost product. But I'm gonna tell you up front that I don't think it's worth the money. Why is that? Well, the principal threat against bike locks tends to be brute force. And despite advertising on Amazon to the contrary, the plates that make up this chain are not hardened, so they're going to fare poorly against cutting and sawing attacks. They're also pretty skinny at only about three millimeters thick by 16 millimeters wide. So I don't see this chain holding up to a well considered force attack. It may be a little bit better than a cable lock, but not by a whole lot. So all of that said, let's see what it takes to pick this open The core inside of here is something that we see in a lot of cheaper Chinese made by clocks. It contains eight sliders arranged in two banks of four, each bank of sliders controlling a separate sidebar. So we're going to start out by putting a little bit of tension in that core, and I'm using this. Nice, thick Ziebart fits very nicely in that key way. And to manipulate the sliders, I'm using a standard hook in 18 thousands. I'll be inserting it sideways and twisting it toe. Lift those sliders up. Nothing on one too. Three. Okay, for is binding. Nice click out of four. Back to the beginning. Number one is binding. Click out of one and a lot of movement on that core. We probably set all the sliders on the right side, so let's move over to the left. Nothing on one too. Three is binding. Nice click out of three. Little click out of four. Back to the beginning. One is binding. Gotta click there. Nothing on two. Click out of three for his binding Every go. Gotta click out of four. Back to the beginning. Nothing on one two. Quick out of three. Click out of four. Not sure what's holding us up now. Nothing on one too Quick out of three. There we go. Click out of four when we open this up. So not a terribly difficult lock to pick. If you have a good approach to manipulating those sliders. But my main concern with this lock remains the skinny and non hardened plates that form the chain. In any case, that's all I have for you today. If you do have any questions or comments about this, please put them below. If you like this video and would like to see more like it, please subscribe.
