This is the lock picking lawyer, and what I have for you today is a lot that I ordered all the way from Italy.
This is the Vero Model 1 66 motorcycle disc brake lock.
It's a device designed to be fitted around the disc brake rotor of a motorcycle and then locked in place that stops the wheel from turning, stopping most forms of rollaway theft.
This particular one stood out to me because it has a hardened steel lock body.
It's something that's surprisingly rare, probably because of the complex shape that's expensive to manufacture out of steel.
It is much cheaper to make them out of cast sink.
Like this similar looking product from on guard.
The Vero is fitted with a disc detainer core, and it works very nicely.
No issues there.
Unfortunately, it has very sloppy tolerances.
So sloppy, in fact, that I can force it open using nothing but this tension tool.
Folks, this is absolutely inexcusable.
I'd really like to think that this particular sample is the exception.
But even if a small percentage of these locks are like this, they need to be avoided altogether.
In any case, that's all I have for you today.
