This is the lock picking lawyer, and what I have for you today is Amazon's choice.
When one searches for a safe and unsurprisingly, it just so happens that the brand name is Amazon basics.
It lists on Amazon 4 $57 though it's currently on sale for 42.
And just in case you were wondering, I declined when Amazon offered me quote expert installation, which would have cost an extra 200.
Unfortunately, this product is among the worst of the worst because it can be opened in just a few moments using a tool which, ironically, you can also buy on Amazon.
Now there are at least three major design flaws with this product, but today we're going to focus on one the mechanical backup cylinder, which is right behind this panel.
So let's pry that off.
It's very easy to take off, and there is a tubular core.
Let me show you how it works.
We turned the key to the right that allows this knob to turn and then the safe will open.
We're locked up again.
Unfortunately, this tubular core has a design flaw that's been known to security professionals for decades.
The lock has equal length driver pins and equal strength springs.
That means it could be impression very quickly, using a tool like this.
And while this may look like something that's unusual or rare, it's readily available on Amazon.
Just $18 for a set of three.
So let's see just how easy it is to use just that fast.
We got this open.
So as you can see, this is not a product that anyone should consider secure.
It does, however, have one excellent use.
It would make a great decoys safe.
What I mean by that is you should leave it in the corner of your room, filled with a stack of old newspapers and maybe a small bag of rusty nails that may just keep a thief occupied such that your true valuables go unnoticed.
In any case, that's all I have for you today.
