This is the lock picking lawyer.
And today is July 12th which was my grandfather's birthday.
And I wanted to mark this occasion by telling you a story in which he plays a large role.
When I was five years old, he gave me my very first lock.
It was exactly like this one, and it immediately became one of my favorite possessions.
I played with it all the time, and it was the first lock that truly fascinated may.
In fact, it may be one of the reasons that locks hold my interest so closely to this day.
Unfortunately, about a year later, my family moved and I left my lock in the old house.
I was, of course, devastated.
But unlike other childhood toys that fade in memory, I never forgot that lock fast forward.
Roughly 35 years to a couple weeks ago, my uncle was sorting through the possessions of my grandfather, who had since passed away, and he found several lakhs knowing my interest in them.
He asked if I wanted to see them, and sure enough, there was another lock, just like the one my grandfather gave me all those years ago.
Right down to the McDonald's sticker on the front.
So despite a collection of many thousands of locks, some quite valuable, this cheap little Chinese lock is one of my favorites.
So now that I've introduced you to it, I think it's obligatory that I pick it open.
It's got a key way on the side of the lock, which is relatively unusual, going to use bottom of the key way tension with this little wiper insert and a standard hooking 25 thousands.
Nothing on one, too.
Three is binding.
Click out of him Number four Little click out of four.
Pulling back.
I had a little click out of two, and this just popped open.
So not too hard to pick, but still a special lock to me, since it's probably the tiny acorn that eventually grew into a lifelong passion.
In any case, that's all I have for you today.
