  • This is the lock picking lawyer, and a few weeks back I came across this on guard bike lock on eBay, and it caught my eye because it has a core that I've never seen before in an on guard lock.

  • Even better, a close look at the package revealed a truly bold claim.

  • They advertise the core as pick, pull and drill proof, so I obviously had to take a closer look.

  • It's the on guard model 81 11 canine folding plate bike lock, and the packaging seems to indicate it's from around 2013.

  • So this is not current production.

  • Upon first inspection, I don't see anything particularly unusual.

  • It consists of a chain made of six linked plates.

  • Then we haven't integrated lock for securing it.

  • Despite on guards bold claims.

  • I don't see anything unusual about this.

  • So called pick proof core seems to be an ordinary disc detainer lock, and I would guess we have six discs in there, so let's see what it takes to pick it open.

  • First thing we're going to do is rotate all those disks as far clockwise as they will go.

  • Then I'm getting the pick that Bosnian Bill and I made picking up disc number one.

  • We confined number two and get to picking to his binding Nice Quick out of two.

  • I think it's in a gate.

  • Three is binding again.

  • I think three is in the gate.

  • Four feels loose, probably a zero cut click out of five and a fair bit of movement on that core.

  • Six fields in like it's in a gate and nothing behind that.

  • So let's try tensioning off of Disk six and setting disc Juan and I think we just got this open.

  • Okay, so as you saw, it didn't take a whole lot of effort to pick this open.

  • And I have absolutely no idea how the company could have gotten the idea that this is pick proof.

  • As faras disc detainer locks go, this one is fairly ordinary.

  • In any case, that's all I have for you today.
