Lesbian MSP Ruth Davidson has launched her bid to lead the Scottish Conservative
Party. A former BBC journalist, she is said to be Tory leader David Cameron’s
preferred choice for the job and has been praised for her “charisma”.
Three gay men have been attacked in the US state of Utah in the last
two weeks. LGBT community activist Eric Ethington told the Salt Lake
Tribune: “This is what happens when our local government refuse to take
the problems in our state seriously.”
Ahead of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the
United States, Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives
Sally Kern has renewed her claim that homosexuality has killed more
people in the United States than terrorism.
A gay group in Taiwan presented a petition to the government on Friday,
with the aim of persuading lawmakers to introduce civil partnership legislation
that would grant same-sex couples the same rights as married straight couples.
And finally: Jessie J has revealed the full extent of the injury that has kept
her off the stage this summer, which resulted in a bone transplant in her
ankle, but she insists she’s now coming back “even harder”.
