I don't want to tell you why we've been in this building since 2000 and 11. It's actually not far away from our very first location under the railway. Ouch. Back then, we knew we wanted to stay within the neighborhood during our search. Tim Williams saw this warehouse for rent on a cycle home. When we got in touch, and while it needed a huge amount of work, we could afford it. And so we moved in, doing a lot of that early construction ourselves. Over time, we took on Maura, Maura, the building until we had the whole thing. A couple of years ago, our landlord changed. Someone bought the building, and at the end of 2018 our lease was up on. That meant renegotiating our lease from scratch. Our new landlord felt inappropriate rent would be four times what we were currently paying. While we negotiated for awhile, we only managed to get it down to a mere tripling of the rent if we chose to stay. Frankly, we didn't feel comfortable feeding the greed of London landlords. We didn't want to raise our prices or impact the earnings of the team just to feed the greed of one man. So we left. It's bittersweet, sad to leave a neighborhood that we've been part off for so long, but exciting because a new space will let us do so much more. So where have we gone? What are we doing there? You'll just have to wait and see.
