Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hi everybody! Today's recipe is very simple and too easy! You don't need any Korean cooking ingredients. Do you have a cabbage? Ok let's make a Korean street snack. Street toast. In Korean it's called "gilgeori-toast." This is kind of a sandwich. And in the sandwich we make a mixture of cabbage - lots of cabbage, and also a little bit of egg. And pan-fry. it's so hot and very very tasty. In the old days when I was young, the gilgeori-toast street snack is very thin and kind of shallow. This sandwich was very small size. But these days it's not a joke! A just visited Korea a couple of years ago and I had a chance to taste this gilgeori-toast. I felt that "Wow, this really changed a lot!" It's made huge! And if you eat one, this is going to be one meal. So ever since I since I tasted this in Korea I just sometimes make this for myself and for my family. Today I'm going to show you a kind of more healthier version. You guys are staying home? And working from home? You seldom go out? Because of that situation?? My readers and viewers from all around the world, I know that you guys are cooking a lot of lot of Korean dishes these days. I'm so happy to see this. So let's get started! So I'm going to show you just only one toast. So you goys can double, triple for all your family members One important thing is that you cook and your family member eats grabbing, eating, and then the second person eating. This way is the most delicious, when it's hot it's yummy yummy yummy. I need this cabbage. I just got rid of the outer skin. And I washed. And then I will just slice really thinly. First I will cut it in half. Like this, and then cut another quarter. I will show you 2 ways, how to slice this. Use a peeler like this. So using this peeler is very easy. This is not shredded yet. And simply, you can also use your knife. Like this. So this is, I used my peeler. And I will use my knife. Separate the leaves like this. And then using your knife... This is done by peeler. I shredded by peeler. And this is shredded by my knife. And both are good. For one serving I will use 6 ounces. This is 6 ounces. About 2 cups. Now this cabbage, and then I'm going to add green onion 2 green onions And onion, around 1 ounce. Carrot just a little bit. So this is for one large sized street toast. Just the filling inside. These are too springy So I like to make it a little smooth, to soften. So how? Just give it a little massage! So that you can cook more easily. Several times I did this. And then a quarter teaspoon of salt. And one egg. And mix together. I need bread for this toast. I got this bread from a Korean bakery. This is whole grain bread. And also this is white milk bread. This is 4x4 and a half inches, kind of a large size. For Korean street toast they usually use a large size bread. So you guys can use this milk bread. But today I'm going to use this brown bread. Turn on the heat. And I'm going to use butter. Unsalted butter. In Korea they usually use a large brick of margarine. So instead of margarine I will use butter. They use a lot of margarine. Because that's the Korean traditional street snack! And I'm going to turn down the heat to medium. Just around 1 tablespoon of butter. And I will add all this! So use your spatula. Make it a large square shape... This is my bread. Make it a little bit bigger. So now I'm going to flip over. You need a large sized spatula. Like this... Quickly. Looks good, doesn't it? Constantly make a shape like this. Let's add more butter. Of course if you don't like butter you can use cooking oil. Or even olive oil. Smells good! I will add more butter for bread. I just cooked over medium heat around 2 minutes. And then I turned over with my spatula. And then I'm going to cook another 2 minutes until all this is well cooked. Key point is don't cook this over high heat. Medium heat is best. Turn over the bread... I'm going to show you a very very convenient way to serve. So this way is the best! Like this. All cooked! Like this, wow heavy! (laughs) Wow, smells so good! And then we have to add sugar here. So they use real white sugar, But these days I'm using Swerve sugar replacement. It's a zero calorie natural sweetener. And these days I'm always using it. Around 1 tablespoon but you guys can use sugar, too. Like this. it depends on your taste. This is Korean style street toast. And then ketchup, tomato ketchup. Generously! This is yellow mustard. They don't use yellow mustard but when I add yellow mustard much much tastier. Ok, I will add. Like this! You can serve this way on the plate. And then when you eat this just cut it in half and then eat. But this is much much easier to eat Easier to serve. So this way, I'm going to roll this! This is Korean street toast! So when you eat it, simply open. This is kind of heavy! (laughs) Lots of cabbage inside and then so tasty and one meal! A really nice meal. You guys can make this for lunch. Mmm! Mmm! Sugar and ketchup, probably you will be "Oooh!" Surprised! But actually this is such a good combination. Really tasty! And also really hot! When it's hot, it's tasty. You need to serve right after making. And the cabbage is really really soft and sweet and juicy. And the bread is really buttery, buttery bread smells so good! This is so yummy, one meal! This is Korean street toast, gilgeori-toast. Now you can make it at home! Enjoy my recipe, see you next time! Bye!!!
