as are the people who work there. 3
But as more grocery workers become ill with coronavirus, 4
their families are becoming scared. 5

There are growing fears for the safety 7
of grocery store workers across America today. 8
27-year-old Leilani Jordan died from COVID-19. 9
She worked at a grocery store in Maryland. 10
We spoke to her grieving mother. 11
I'm hurt. 12
I'm angry. 13
I'm afraid for the other workers. 14
Some grocery stores are introducing one-way aisles 15
to try to reduce the risk. 16
Many stores are installing plastic shields at cash registers 17
to protect workers from customers 18
who may be unwittingly spreading the virus 19
with a cough, a sneeze or even a friendly hello. 20
White House COVID-19 coordinator Deborah Birx updated 21
her warning about avoiding grocery stores if you can. 22
If you can consolidate, 23
if you can send one person, 24
the entire family doesn't need to go out on these occasions. 25
You know, maybe once every two weeks 26
we can do a grocery store and pharmacy shop 27
for the entire family. 28
