  • This is the lock picking lawyer, and what I have for you today are too common Hungarian padlocks that were made by Elza roughly 60 years apart.

  • They were sent to me by Andres, who was originally from hungry and he tells me the older one this to Deice is about 50 to 60 years old.

  • He also says it hasn't been opened in 20 years.

  • The similar looking lock next to it is also made by L set.

  • It's called a SEC lock and this was purchased just a few months ago.

  • So what we're going to do is pick both of them open and see how they compare.

  • I'm going to start with the older lock.

  • This has a nice, wide open key way.

  • So I'm going to use a thick wiper insert in there and there's more than enough room to use a standard hook in 25 thousands.

  • Little click on one.

  • Nothing on to nothing on 34 Okay, five is binding.

  • Nice click out of five.

  • Back to the beginning, Click out of one that could have been a spool.

  • I felt a little bit a counter rotation on it.

  • Counter rotation on two got him set.

  • Definitely a spool.

  • Counter rotation on three.

  • And we got this open.

  • So two or three schools in there Not too bad a pick on the newer lock.

  • We can see.

  • It definitely has a tighter key way.

  • I'm going to use a smaller tension tool and probably moved down to the standard hook in 18 thousands.

  • Okay, Nothing on one might have gotten a little click on to Nothing on 34 is binding tightly.

  • Nice click out of four.

  • Five is binding.

  • Click there.

  • And we dropped into a false set back to number one.

  • Counter rotation.

  • Okay.

  • And I think we got number one set.

  • Definitely a school.

  • Nothing on two counter rotation on three.

  • There we go.

  • I think we have three set nothing on 445 Nothing on one.

  • I think maybe we didn't quite get three set No.

  • Three fields set.

  • Click out of four.

  • Click out of five.

  • There we go.

  • Okay.

  • So it's difficult to say if there's a significant difference.

  • Clearly, the newer one was trickier to pick.

  • I think the pinning was similar.

  • They both have a few schools, but the tighter Qiwei and tighter tolerances do make a difference, though I don't know how much of the tolerances have to do with the age of the two lakhs.

  • Either way, I don't think the difference is air going to slow down an experienced picker.

  • In any case, that's all I have for you today.
