Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles This is the lock picking lawyer, and several months ago, in video number 8 14 I showed you this Panasonic bike lock. It's an all aluminum bike lock made for the Japanese market, where most people don't lock their bikes at all. And that's because the theft rates there are very, very low. But I also said in video number 8 14 that this lock is so weak that it would be laughably bad in most parts of the world. Well, enter the Rocky Mount Company from Boulder, Colorado. They've taken the exact same lock and marketed in the United States as the Carlito you lock. And it's not just the aluminum shackle that should be concerning. The core is so poorly made that even a novice should be able to pick it open in seconds. Now, at first glance, it looks like it could be picked resistant. We have a seven pin dimple core with pins coming from two different directions. But testing it, I found the tolerances were so bad that it could be raked open in seconds. So let's do that right now. I'm going to use this wiper insert for tension and this wave rake just that quickly. We got it open. Let's do that a couple more times. So you know, it was not a fluke and one last time. So, as you can see, this is a lock that requires almost no skill at all to pick open and probably should not be relied upon to protect your bike. In any case, that's all I have for you today. If you do have any questions or comments about this, please put them below. If you like this video and would like to see more like it, please subscribe. And, as always, have a nice day. Thank you.
