Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hello. I'm David Hoffman, filmmaker, and you're about to see a scene from my first professional job. 1965 outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Filming mountain music I Loved Meant music, even though I was a kid from Long Island. Used to hear it on late night radio and something about basketball once for an 82 year old man, a great collector of songs. He just encouraged everybody to speak out, to play out, to dance out. And this is a scene with this old man. Clearly has bad arthritis. But just watch the subtlety of basket talk him into playing. It's It's just beautiful to me. I loved being there. I loved those Appalachian mountain people and the way they treated each other the respect for their artistry. And I hope you enjoy this scene. No, you don't. You like anything? No way, buddy.
