Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hi, this is Catherine, and we're back here at the CS 50 fair right now. I'm with one student. Paul, if you want to introduce you, I'm I'm doing architecture major in the second year in grad school. And yeah, I'd like to show you my project, which is dancing lights. So So how this works is actually I tried to map the Edie's, too the Xbox Kinect sensor. So if I move my hands in in front of the Xbox Kinect sensor, the Audi lights actually corresponds to the movement and a gesture office. So it's kind of like an interactive design where I'm trying to find application in architectural and expand this this'll logic. Yeah, Something that's bigger and more interesting. Yeah. Where'd you get the idea for this project? I guess, Um, yes, I did actually came from, like, one of my projects absent online, which is like a very big light installation. But director like music. So I'm thinking, like what if, like, a human like someone? Is there physically in a space and then interacting with the lights would be, like, more interesting for me? Yeah. Very cool. So, what languages did you program with this And what tools from CS 50 taught you had. So I programmed this with Adriano and processing. And the language that is used is c++ and Java. Yeah. So what is what I blend in, like 50 is really useful Because it taught me how to, like, write the with coding logic and also learning the syntax, which makes it really easy to transfer for between, like, different languages. Yeah, and it makes coding a lot more fun and interesting because I'm sending basics fundamentals. Um, can I try out your project? So this is your light sensor? Right? Next. So do I. Put my hand over here. You have someone in here? Oh, what, like throwing up over there? So you put over here. Okay. Wow, That's really cool. Project what, like ideas? Do you have for this in the future like Dicks Band on your project? I guess it is possible to make it a slightly bigger scale. So I kind of imagine this, like in a room that's filled with different lights and different size and a lot bigger. And if the person is able to rock through the lights in between the lights, he's able to interact with lights in different ways. That I imagine so it's more like a essential and like lighting design to me. So did you have any CS experience before coming into this class Middle? No, absolutely not. I Yeah, I came in like, not knowing anything, but but just through the process and learning every single thing, it's just all. So I felt like I know so much more than before And like, like computing sounds like, seems to be so much more interesting than I thought it would be like. It's not just dried coding, but you can do something really interactive and, like, exciting and that this what I love about this costs. I'm so glad and congratulations on finishing the course and we're at the end of the semester and we're all very proud of you. And you're really cool Project. So thank you so much. And I'm Katherine and this is CS 50.
