Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles hi they are Jennifer from Tarle Speech with your two for Tuesday lesson two words with two definitions and two spellings pronounced exactly the same way our words today are break so we have break two separate or destroy and brake the system and a vehicle that slows it down and brings it to a stop four sounds today the most complicated sound is this BR combination here if you watched last week when we talked about the word blue I mentioned we do not want a sound or a break between those two consonant sounds same thing here we do not want a break between the B and the R we don't want to add an additional vowel we want to make that as smoothly as possible a tip that works for a lot of my students is think about saying the R sound first and just think about it to get your tongue in the correct space for that R as you know from watching a lot of my videos the tip of your tongue can be either pointed down with the back of your tongue pulled up or you can flip your tongue back just as long as you're not touching your teeth or moving or trilling or tapping that R sound okay so think about that ERRRR sound right and then put your lips together for the B BR BR BRso I'm essentially getting ready for that R and then I'm opening my lips for that B sound and then as I do I am just ready for the R sound okay so again nice and smooth for that BR BR BR next we're going to move to the a vowel do that by opening your mouth wide that allows you to get the tip of your tongue low in your mouth with the back of your tongue pulled up and then move to the smile a when you move to the smile your tongue will move to be high and flat in your mouth Bray Bray next end with the K and to do this your mouth is going to be open the back of your tongue is going to be pulled high up towards the roof of your mouth some people actually touch the roof of their mouth the tip of the tongue is down and away from the teeth break break break okay let's try it in a sentence don't break the break by hitting it too hard don't break the break by hitting it too hard give it a try people will notice the difference if you found this helpful we'd love it if you'd share this with a friend don't forget to subscribe if you need more help check out our products on Google Play and iTunes and our classes at Tarle Speech thanks so much everybody
