Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Whoa! Whoa! Sad days. We got roasted. I know. The roaster becomes the roasted. How the tables have turned. We recently posted a video, well, it was just a little skit... ...about violins and recorders. You know, light-hearted... ...just a bit of fun, didn't mean too much about it. But oh man, we got destroyed. The recorder gang came out. In particular, a lot of recorder people came out, and posted some video reactions to our video, so I thought we would watch some of those today. So the first one is "Professional recorder player reacts to TwoSet Violin". - Feels so weird to be the one being reacted to. - I know. - 'Cause we're always reacting to others. - It's like, "Finally we're being reacted to, hey guys!" I will say, the viola gang, you guys take it very well. Historically, they've taken it quite well. Like, they... The fact that you guys are still here... Yeah. I'm... - ...props to you guys. - Yeah. - I'm impressed. - Yeah. Viola gang. Yeah, all the viola players are like, "Guys, recorder players, just chill." - Who knows, let's see what they have to say. - Let's see, yeah. Hello everybody, I'm Sarah, and I'm a recorder player. Damn, she just flexed hard right here. Dude that was like 12... Bam! *chuckles* No dude, it costs hundred dollars— I'm just joking, agh! Just joking! My mentions on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, were full of a certain video, that had just been released by TwoSet Violin. And, a lot of people were asking me to react on this. Now I don't want this video to be shade, or hate on TwoSet Violin at all. Wait, why am I getting anxious? Yeah, like... I don't mean this to be shade... I think it's so good, that they bring classical music to a wider audience, and in general, I like their videos. So... Oh, thank you. Appreciate it. In general... - In general, except for this video. - Except for this one. And the way she does this... Yeah, it's like, "Get ready." I'm very curious what this video is about that has apparently got the recorder world... ...very upset. There's a world? I'm just joking. Wait, no, no, no... Let's just make a real clear disclaimer straight up. Our intention was just to have a little bit of fun. Yeah. Of course, it didn't even occur to us the idea that we might... ...make recorder players feel like we think - they're not a proper instrument. - Yeah. Because we just never thought - they weren't a proper instrument. - Yeah. Just... - Do make it clear, we have to make things clear. - Yes. Disclaimer. Yes. But we just like making fun of everyone, - including ourselves. - Yeah. Violas. Thanks guys. I love her face. She's just like, "Ohhh..." Dude, you didn't even get to the next octave yet. - Yeah. - It already started. Okay. So they're comparing the violin to the recorder, this would be amazing, if on both instruments, you had a professional player. What a missed opportunity. Recorders are often depicted as having two octaves... I just remembered that, I did once play with a professional recorder player, - Yeah. - in a concert, in Sydney. I was really impressed. I was like, "Wow recorder, like, concerto." And the projection was pretty on point, - in a classical, you know, recital hall. - Mmm. Yeah. But you can go higher... ...and lower. Um... - Cool. - I guess there's a good range for every instrument, right? I couldn't stop, couldn't stop. I'd say two octaves and a sixth or a seventh, but wait. Whoa! Dude, can I say that it just looks like a Minecraft? As a recorder player, you are expected to be able to play the entire family of instruments. It looks like an Ikea installation. - *snickers* - I'm sorry... But recorders... ...players can play a lot of instruments. This is a contrabass but you can get recorders, even an octave and a half lower than this. This is the tiny garklein, it's a bit like... Imagine every professional violinist having to also play violin, cello, and double bass. Poor violas. - So they get each—even the recorder's like, - Even the recorder gang is forgetting their existence. "Violas." Violists are like, "Yeah, okay, here we go, yeah." I'll be honest. That's pretty funny. - It was funny, I'm playing Darude "Sandstorm". - Even she's laughing. I actually really like his tonguing. Talent within! Bang!!! This is why music brings people together, now we're best friends. She like my tonguing, I like her contrabass. Of course, between string and wind instruments, not every effect is gonna translate, um, literally. Hear, hear. Hear, hear. (both) Thank you. A tremolo is a trembling of the note, caused by rapidly repeating it. You could do it with double tonguing. Or even flutter tonguing. Dude, what am I... What am I doing? - Look at her reaction, she's like, "Wow!!!" - I know. The emotion. Yeah, there's so much emotion in there. Thank you. Thank you. What I see them doing here is trying to do vibrato with your fingers. You may laugh, but we have that too. - I guess it's... - I didn't know that. Wave, sound waves...I don't know. Damn, got us back there. You're not—they're not even trying...! She stated the obvious. - We're not even trying. - Yeah, we're not trying...we weren't trying. We can make chords in three different ways. Multiphonics. Yeah, I'm not sure that counts as a chord. But I get your point. Singing whilst playing. - That's cool! - That's...that's...that's cool. - Yeah, okay. - I like... I've seen that one, yeah, that's...that's the OG. - Yeah! - That's...that's good. Um...obviously there is more to the video, but, we don't want this video to get too long, - and we did want to react to one more video. - Mm-hmm. That was made by Lucie. She was the OG recorder player - that we reacted to back in the day. - Yes. And she also made a reaction. Is that true? Dude!!!! That's so awesome! That's funny, that's funny. - Well, welcome Lucie! Yeah! - I respect that! - I feel honoured, to be your first video. - Yeah. One tip for Eddy, uh, use the half thumb, to reach the notes in the second and the third register. One tip. That's it. Use your half thumb, Eddy. You listening? Yes, sensei, please teach me! Go! Wait, did she say third register? Yeah. Whoa...!!! - No need to flex that hard! - It's like... Is it because it's a 10 dollar instrument? - Yeah. - Or am I just s***? - I'm all for this flex. - Yeah. Please, keep flexing on us. Isn't that a flute piece? - Hey, the violas play some violin pieces. - Ohh, that's so good! - Dude, it was so smooth... - That was...that was so smooth. That was so... - ...that you couldn't hear like— - I couldn't hear the stop. ...yeah. - Oh, I wanna try that! - Dude that's some technique! How do you do that? Dude, it sounds like UFO. Practice. Did you practice today? Dude, that's some multitasking. Does she have like, 400 IQ? 'Cause she looks so like... Relaxed. She's not even trying, she's just like, "Yeah." Hey guys, welcome to my very first YouTube video. I can't do it! - Dude... - Ah yeah... - Yeah I get it now, flexing... - Yeah...flex.... Oh dude, chill, chill— Whoa!!! - Dude, she just put like 10 trillion... - I know. Dude, holy crap. Oh my god. Well, there you go. It's a legitimate professional career. - Dude, what a burn. - Yeah... She just destroyed us. - She has a VEVO, and she made... - That was the one we reacted to. She made a private YouTube just to roast... "The agency won't let me do this, but I'm just gonna do it anyway." Welcome! Please like and subscribe, guys! This is the most epic recorder! Guys, go check out Lucie Horsch, and... - Sarah Jeffery. - ...Sarah Jeffery. There's a lot more, unfortunately we do not have time to - review all of you guys, but... - Yeah. I'm glad everyone took it well. - Yeah, I'm glad people took it well, - Yeah. I'm glad we were able to... ...uh, share our thoughts, interact online, and... ...it seems like the people in the comments, mostly thought it was interesting as well. - It was fun. - Yeah. Good community! Ling Lings, unite. Please like and subscribe, and we'll see you guys next time.
