Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles hi this is Jennifer from tarle speech I've got a new series for you it is pronunciation of a month of the year per popular request so today I'm going to start with the month of July even though it's the end of the month and then you can check us out in August September October November December January February March April May and June for the rest of the pronunciation lessons so let's go ahead and start the lesson how do I pronounce July you have two options for this month I typically say July but I do hear people say Joo ly so you can do either so let's start with syllable two since it's the same for both of these words we're going to end with lie and to do this you're going to touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth and then you're going to move it away and then move to that I sound to do this your mouth is going to be open very wide so that the tongue can rest in the bottom of your mouth with the back pulled up and then you're going to move your tongue high and flat in your mouth and smile to end that I vowel lie and I spelled it like this because that's how we would actually spell the word but it's actually only two sounds here L- I lie now for your options July or July so to say July what you're going to do is start with a J sound by touching the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth and then you're going to pull it into the middle of your mouth for the j and then move to the oo vowel which is nice and long - Ju Lie July or you can again start with that J sound just and then add the uh the schwa short uh Jah Jah July July July so we have ju-lie July or Ju-lie July I'm gonna say those both again July July July July July July we celebrate Independence Day July 4th in America give it a try I know people are going to notice the difference if you found this helpful we would love a like a share and a subscribe and if you are looking for our products you can check those out on Google Play iTunes or at Tarle Speech dot com thank you so much and I look forward to seeing you every month of the coming year
