  • Eat Sleep Dreamers welcome to a very special

  • English lesson because today it's my first

  • ever collaboration and I'm very happy to

  • welcome

  • Anya Teaches English.

  • Hi Anya, how are you doing? Very well thank you. Super.

  • Thank you for having me. You are welcome. Anya is another English YouTuber

  • and also she's on Instagram on Facebook

  • fantastic check her out she's the Queen

  • of tongue twisters. So if you were to do

  • pronunciation particularly, then she is

  • your teacher.

  • Ok, so we are going to do a special lesson today where we're

  • going to ask each other second

  • conditional questions whoa whoa whoa whoa

  • hold on Tom wait. A lot of you are asking

  • right now what is a second conditional

  • sentence? Good question, okay let's find

  • out. A second conditional sentence is

  • it's a structure a grammar structure we

  • use to talk about unreal or imaginary

  • situations. The best idea is to look at

  • an example here it is. 'If I won the

  • lottery I would buy a house in Hawaii.'

  • 'If I won the lottery,

  • I would buy a house in Hawaii ah-oh that would be nice

  • Ah Hawaii! okay let's break that down. So first

  • of all you have to ask yourself the

  • question how possible is this to happen

  • is it possible that it could happen? Okay

  • it is possible but the chances of me

  • winning the lottery are pretty pretty

  • small so it's it's not very likely to

  • happen and so we would consider it to be

  • an imaginary situation. I'm not going to

  • win the lottery let's be honest okay

  • let's look at the structure how do we

  • how do we create this sentence? So we

  • have if plus past verb okay so if I won

  • so if plus the past verb and then you

  • have would plus the infinitive so I

  • would

  • buy our house. So Anya and I are going to

  • ask you to other questions using this

  • second conditional sentence and they are

  • all imaginary questions so they're not

  • real they're fun, playful, imaginary

  • questions. So let's see what we ask each

  • other. Okay I've got my first question

  • Okay I was going to ask you the same question.

  • I think I would have to choose let's say Marilyn Monroe

  • okay I'd like to meet Marilyn Monroe

  • because I think she is from what I've

  • read about her she seems like an interesting character

  • with an interesting life

  • story so I'd like to speak to her. Because I think she had

  • a troubled life but obviously

  • very famous, very beautiful and yeah I would like to speak to her.

  • I think she would also have some amazing

  • stories to tell right like she met some

  • of the most famous people at the time

  • yeah she was you know she knew JFK. And Einstein

  • as well I think. Oh really? Yeah I think so.

  • Wow! Great, yeah I think I'll go with Marilyn Monroe as well

  • Can I say world peace? Yeah yeah you can say world peace but

  • you can't say more wishes okay. I don't yeah i

  • World peace without a doubt, okay I also

  • wish that I personally could

  • travel either forward or back in time I

  • think that would be kind of cool.

  • Yeah I just wish that all the people I know

  • are going to live healthy happy lives. I'm

  • going to go with that. Ah that's nice. And all you Eat Sleep Dreamers as well.

  • Healthy happy lives.

  • Oh that's a good one. I think I would be Jasmine from Aladdin because

  • she lives in an exotic country I can't remember where

  • but it seems exotic.

  • And she gets to fly on the magic

  • carpet with Aladdin which is very cool.

  • And she has a pet tiger. okay!

  • Okay what would I do? I would well I

  • would go and investigate.

  • Wouldn't you be scared? Maybe but it

  • depends what the noise was.

  • Okay. This has happened before.

  • It actually happened in my garden and then and so I

  • did I heard it and I was like right I'm

  • going to, I'm going to defend my house

  • and I'm gonna go find out what it was. So

  • I sort of, a bit scared timidly looked

  • out and then I opened the door and went

  • outside and it was nothing. So I'd

  • like to think I would investigate but I might also

  • hide under my duvet. Yeah that's what I would do.

  • I would wake up I think

  • on a beach somewhere. Somewhere

  • I don't even really mind where. Just

  • a really beautiful

  • hot exotic beach with palm trees and

  • crystal blue waters and maybe 40-degree.

  • That's where I would wake up. Totally agree. Especially with the grey

  • sky here in London. The idea of a sunny

  • beach is a nice one.

  • Alright so my favourite song is a song

  • by Ben E King called 'Stand by me'. Oh I love that song.

  • Yeah it's a really romantic song, so maybe maybe

  • that one.

  • Alright guys, so we've asked each other lots of second conditional

  • sentences. I want you guys to write a

  • second conditional question for me in

  • the comments below.

  • 'Tom if you could be an animal, what

  • animal would you be?' Whatever it is. And I

  • promise I will comment

  • I'm sure Anya will comment as well as

  • if you have a question for her too. Thank you so much

  • for hanging out with guys see you next

  • time. Bye
