let's just jump right into this because I think you're going to need a visual so

first let's start with the word casual let's just look at the syllables or I

think this kind of gets a little bit too confusing I've actually shot this video

about five times already and none of them have worked so let's go with just

the syllables so for casual Ka zew ul

casual so Ka zew ul casual casual casual now casually can be pronounced

one of two ways it can either have three syllables Ka zew lee casually or four

syllables Ka zew uh lee casually so let's say those words altogether we have

casual with three beats casual casual casual and then we're gonna have three

beats for option number one casually casually casually or we have four

syllables when I add that schwa casually casually casually either option is okay

you just have to pick one and stick with it now let's go to basic this is easy

when you think of the syllables it's like we're saying two words bay like a

body of water and sick like I don't feel very well

basic easy breezy to say that herein lies the problem though I think when you

add that ly you can have one of two pronunciations basically with three

beats basically basically basically or you can have four syllables bay sick

uh lee basically basically basically so we can have basic basically basically now I

hear most people say basically however it is okay if you want to add that extra

syllable it's actually hard for me to pronounce it that way because I don't

add that fourth syllable but just know that some people do that and that is

okay so because I pronounce these words with three syllables when you add the ly

that's how I'm going to pronounce them for you in the examples so we have
