It's been raining a lot in Tokyo,
so my friends and I
are heading to the beautiful islands of Kyushu.
During the next few days in Kyushu
I plan to travel and get some studying done
but for those of you studying language...
...how about we study together?
If you're hoping to improve your speaking skills
then it's really helpful to learn with a native speaker.
So check out the teachers available on iTalki.com
If you click the link under this video
you can get one lesson for free
so check it out if you're interested!
((KYUSHU))
Alright, we just arrived in Kagoshima Airport
here in Kagoshima Prefecture!
This is actually my first time
outside of Japan's main 'honshu' island.
I'm pretty excited!
What will we find in this prefecture?
Let's go check it out!
[ Heading to the Town of Nagashima ]
Behind me you can see the rental car~!
Look at these cute little cars!
Sam, we need music. Sing something!
Just pick a song to play!
Ok...
Ariana Grande!
We need a song name
not an artist!
OK, how about this?
We're here for a few days on a special project
to see and film some of the
untouched parts of Japan that most people don't get to see.
Out of the 5 of us, I'm doing most of the filming
but I thought I"d use the next few videos
to share the fun stuff we're doing behind the scenes.
We're taking a quick break...
look at this crazy scenery!
And Family Mart, working hard to provide for us!
Chicken Nanban is a Kyushu specialty?
Yep!
In honor of Kyushu, we're having some
Chicken Nanban, heated riceball, sandwichy delicious looking things...
What is your flavor?
Miyazaki Steak
Miyazaki Steak Rice Ball YAYYYY!!
It looks good!
Oh, it's really good!
Want some?
Yeah!
Too bad!
Aw mann...
Chicken Nanban...
It's good!
It's full of mayonaisse.
Oh that's what it is? Mayo?
That flavor is what makes it 'Western' flavor.
Kyushu is like...
already becoming my favorite!
Japan works really hard to make regional
specialty foods, that are really delicious.
Totally.
Now entering the island!
[ Welcome to Nagashima]
We made it!
We made it to Nagashima!
A little island in Kagoshima Prefecture
and we're going to check it out for the next few days.
On the 3rd day we're going to this island...
but not we're here...
At the Onsen (Hot Springs) center!
We stayed in a whole house by the Onsen Center
which was HUGE and had two different levels.
So big!
Over there we have a Japanese-style Tatami room.
After my last video, I'm pretty sure some of you guys are wondering
how I'm traveling when I should be studying.
So, this is how I do it!
I need to improve my speaking skills
so I recorded a final presentation I did for one of my classes.
I used to use a program called "Audacity" on my computer
but recently I've been using my phones voice recording app
The next part's easy :). Listen back,
and when you're own your way to places, take notes of parts that are especially cringeworthy!
Then, if you forgot a word or something just look it up
study that word, and practice recording it again.
In Japan I have plenty of chances to practice speaking casually
but really kind of organizing your thoughts and presenting things
and doing it really clearly is one of my weaknesses.
So this is how I've been keeping things up on the go.
[ The place where people help out the residents of Nagashima ] (Town Hall)
Isn't that great? What a simply, nice message.
Let's find those helpful people, and they'll show us around.
We just met some of the people who work here in Nagashima
they are showing us around the city
and some of the things that the people do here
like a health center and some other cool things like that
We are still just getting started!
We're enjoying some dinner locally
having some fresh fish and treats that were made here
because tomorrow, we have a huge day.
Getting ready to film and meet the people here.
Until then, it's time for us to call it a night.
Hopefully, we'll see you guys next time!
