question is how do I pronounce the words God and in this case I'm spelling god

with a small G because my sentence is going to be talking about a Greek god

and in in that terms we're talking about a Supreme Being if we're talking about

God in monotheistic religions you would capitalize that word and add a capital G

so the word is god a Supreme Being and we have the word guard which means to

watch over this is a confusing word pair for many of my students because we have

the oh sound which does not occur in a lot of languages and that sound is made

with a very wide open oval mouth

this is contrasted with the are vowel where you move your mouth from that wide open

oval to an R sound for the er are spelling here really confuses people

so u a R we're only going to pronounce as the are movement vowel and that's not

the way that it really looks so to start both of these words you're gonna start

with the G sound and do this tip of your tongue is going to be down low in your

mouth and the back of your tongue is going to be pulled up almost touching

the roof of your mouth or and some people touching and that is going to be

for the g g g sound we're gonna end with the d sound and to do this

touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth the G and the D

sound our voice for your voice box is going to be on and vibrating so we have

g and d so let's go ahead and put these words together God God God

guard guard guard god guard guard god and now for a sentence

excuse me I lost it there for a second the Greek god of safety is said to guard

travellers the Greek god of safety is said to guard travellers give it a try
