  • - Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls.

  • Hello, I'm Julian Northbrook from doingenglish.com.

  • (electronic whooshing)

  • Let's talk a little about learning English every day.

  • It's simple, if you wanna get good at English fast,

  • you need to be putting time and effort into your English

  • every single day.

  • Because of the way the brain works

  • and to do with something in psycholinguistics

  • we call activation, something I'll talk about in detail

  • in another video.

  • We are constantly...

  • going

  • in and out

  • of fluency in a language.

  • And if you spend, I don't know, an hour, two hours,

  • three hours just once a week studying

  • and practising the language, what you'll do is

  • you'll give yourself a big boost in proficiency.

  • But then that proficiency

  • will gradually disappear over time.

  • So what we need to be doing is constantly bringing that

  • back up, back up, back up.

  • Which is why we want to be doing it,

  • even if only say 10, 15, 20 minutes a day,

  • we want to be doing it every single day

  • so that we're keeping the level of activation

  • in our English up, up, up.

  • And always going a little bit further,

  • a little bit further, a little bit further.

  • You see if you're just doing it once a week

  • what's gonna happen is you're gonna lose more

  • during the week than you gained

  • in that two, three hours of, you know, binge learning

  • as I like to call it.

  • Do it daily, every single day.

  • Just a little bit a day is gonna take you much much further

  • much faster, than a lot occasionally.

  • Got it? Good!

  • This is me, Julian Northbrook signing out from this video.

  • If you like this video give it a thumbs up.

  • If you're new, subscribe, like, if you're watching some...

  • Buh-bye.

  • (lively music)
