  • last week we did a lesson on how to pronounce Chicago Illinois and I would

  • be remiss without teaching you how to pronounce my fantastic hometown of

  • Pittsburgh Pennsylvania so let's take a look at our words Pittsburgh

  • Pennsylvania lots and lots of letters lots and lots of syllables but we're

  • going to break this down and make this very very simple let's start with the

  • word Pittsburgh most people get confused for a couple of reasons the u r

  • that throws people off and then this H at the end the H is silent thank

  • goodness we don't have to worry about that and the UR we are going to

  • pronounce that as an er so let's look at the two syllables Pitts burgh Pittsburgh

  • we're going to stress syllable one so we're going to make that louder longer

  • and higher in pitch Pittsburgh and we're going to add Pennsylvania let's

  • think of this in words that are simple to remember pencil that you write with

  • vain and yeah pencil vein yeah Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and

  • keep in mind when you're pronouncing two things together like a city and a state

  • you're going to want to pause between those if you're struggling with them a

  • little bit and also remember to stress the first word so Pittsburgh

  • Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I was born and raised in Pittsburgh

  • Pennsylvania give it a try I know people are going to notice the difference if
