big news in the n b A.
And that's what we're going to start.
Nate, you play point guard in the league for years and years and years still playing point guard in the Big three.
What do you think of the fit of Russell Westbrook and James Harden on the same team?
Uh, not like it.
I mean, they played on the same team before, so it's nothing new to them.
They could get in there and kind of start, you know, some fresh.
You know, out there in Houston, I'm excited to see them blood.
You know what you think about this new duo in Houston?
Well, you know, they never should have broke up to do in the first place.
But, you know, it's good that they get to get a chance to play together.
You know, I think hard down, Russ realize, actually made it to the finals with each other.
And, you know, now they got a chance to try to do it again.
But it's gonna be hard cause the Lakers out, You're laters competition in the same building.
The staple center.
You haven't paid attention.
The Clippers acquired Kawai Leonard import George, your thoughts on that, sir.
They still the JV squad prove some different.
You know what it is?
Everybody know what it is.
You know, it's Ah, good move for the clip.
It's great for L.
A.
You know, Teoh actually have, you know, both dogs can bark.
I mean, bite bark.
But both dogs convey bite, and it's going is gonna be lit in L.
A.
So that's gonna be cool.
It's gonna be fun to see them.
Two squads go at it.
You look at the Western Conference.
I know you pay close attention to it.
Being the Laker family you are, and previously was kind like you had the Warriors.
You kind of had the Rockets.
It was the only real, real real champion contenders.
But right now there's five or six teams in that conference alone.
You could see winning the Larry O Brien trophy.
Do you think from a Laker perspective, that's better or worse for your chances?
Better?
I mean, it's better that we in the mix, you know?
Not just, you know, I say it was the Warriors.
Five years in a row seem like rockets.
You know, I never considered them as championship contenders.
You know, they just never got over the hump.
So it was warriors.
It was Warriors, warriors, Warriors.
And now that's not to talk.
You know, it's a few teams that actually can can go forward and make the final.
So it's good for us.
Good for basketball.
I think MBA is probably loving it, because now they don't have to hear all this.
No reason to watch cause So so now the regular season is gonna be lit.
It's gonna be fun.
No, you played a long time in the league within against a lot of these players.
What do you think about the evolution of the backcourt in the point guard spot?
We see so many guys changing teams.
Have Kimba in Boston have Kyrie with Nets.
What do you think about the evolution of that position?
And who do you feel like?
Plays it the best?
Oh, may I don't know who plays in the best, but it's fun to watch.
It's fun to watch.
Uh, you know, Gars coming in scorn and dish in and playing at a high level.
Rust does a great job.
Kyrie.
All the guys curry.
It's just fun to watch on.
I'm just excited for these guys, you know?
And now what?
The younger talent coming in with the young guys is gonna be is gonna be fun.
It's like it's kind of like watching a U basketball all over again.
But in the n b A staff.
So, as a former player, did you hate the idea that Cuba just talking about super teams happening as opposed to now?
Going into this year, it seems like it's a lot more intrigue across the league.
You mean like you know what?
We grew up old school.
We grow old school where we use on the team use on that team.
You didn't want to go team up with guys like unless you were actually traded their out of your control when it's out of control.
But, I mean, guys teaming up now.
I mean, I guess it is what it is, but it's like, you know, building that at that team.
That franchise You can have a couple of guys for, like, 4 to 5 years at the time, I think then it means more than just one year, two years, you know, So hopefully these guys consign for 3 to 4 years and be there, actually, with a team for quite a bit of time.
Everybody hates the super team.
Unless is your team.
They were about Boston when they did, you know today in the winning championship.
It works when it was matted Jordan when Rodman joined help, you know.
So it's always gonna be a thing where you hate it when it doesn't happen to your city.
And we spent a week quiet to go Lakers likewise, Gonna stay with the Raptors and maybe Quiet's not go the Clippers.
And then it comes out that call.
I was on the phone, you know, getting on the phone with with Paul George and working stuff behind the scenes.
And then he ended up going with the Clippers.
So we talk about teams like joining up together, players joining up together.
How do you feel about the player empowerment that we've seen this offseason?
Love it.
You know I love it.
It's like you the best player you know, you have to top of the food chain.
You should be able to pick where you want to go on who you want to play with.
Why not?
You know it's to me.
The players run the lead.
It's all about the players.
So you know when players have the position of power, use it and use your leverage because the owners are gonna use their leverage on you.
So you might as well use it when you have it and everything is gonna be alright.
It's nothing but business.
There was some time we thought so.
I was gonna team up with an three games and LeBron and obviously he went to the Clippers.
And here's what you had to say about his decision to go to the Clippers.
We have it here cause I was a winner and now he wants to be a loser.
It's true, you know.
He's with a winning Squire with the Raptors.
Now.
You wanted go join them.
Not now having this level of dynamic these this many dynamic duels across the league.
You know, we talked about Russ and hard.
Kyrie and K d still have this Flash Brothers, You have Portland with Damon CJ, do you guys have won that you're most looking forward to seeing?
I know what you you got a D and LeBron.
But who else are you excited to see across the league.
I'm excited to see Russian in James Harden.
You know, that's gonna be a good good.
Ah, you know, entertaining squad to watch.
Um and I'm excited to see Quiet And Paul George, you know, that's gonna be a It was gonna be a good squad going funny.
Oh, but, you know, to see him playing together, it's gonna be cool.
You know, I'm a basketball fan.
You root for the Lakers.
But at the end of the day, you know, if it's a great basketball game on, I turn it on and watch it and enjoy it.
And that's what I want to do.
This, uh, I had to say I'm excited to see Kyrie and, uh and in Brooklyn, because I know he's from he's from this side of town on being and be able to play in front of your people is like, I know that means a lot because I would love to play for the Sonics being from Seattle, I mean, nothing made me happier.
Thanks for watching ESPN on YouTube.
