Benjamin Harrison respected his grandfather and worked hard to follow in his footsteps.

He was a fine public speaker but lacked warmth when dealing with people.

But Harrison did.

With the 18 88 election as president, he tried both to protect U.

S business interests and to reduce the pilot of big businesses.

He also expanded American influence internationally.

Yet he failed to win the hearts of many voters and was not re elected.
