  • It took nearly a full year, but the longest NBA season has finally come to a close and abrupt stoppage triggered by a pandemic giveaway toe, a bubble in Orlando and a hopeful return to play.

  • But while competition resumed, three game had become secondary to the players.

  • Unity with the black lives matter, Social justice movement.

  • As Marc Spears looks back on this longest season, his greatest memory is not with the eventual champion, but the journey that we all witnessed together.

  • So what was it like in the bubble?

  • From the moment the Raptors arrived in a black bus with black lives matter on the side, A new to coronavirus free basketball played wasn't gonna be the only thing to keep in eye on.

  • Despite the overwhelming plea for change, there has been no action.

  • So our focus today cannot be on basketball.

  • It didn't matter if you were superstar.

  • LeBron James, quite frankly, is just way are scared as black people in America or little known Justin Jaymes, players made their social justice voices heard in a bubble with their words.

  • And we've been trying to fight for 400 years.

  • Even though these people are gone, choose me what their silence And they're branded clothing, hats and masks.

  • It meant a lot to see white players like Kyle Korver, Alex Caruso and Tyler Hero wearing black lives matter on the back of their social justice themed jerseys that raised more than $700,000 for charity.

  • I will never forget Heat Center Meyers Leonard opening up to me about his love for the military and black people after he was trending on Twitter for standing during the anthem in the finals.

  • In an MBA season unlike any other on Lee, two teams remain LeBron James versus Jimmy Butler.

  • Finals on return to the MBA was memorable, but the players social justice movement is what I will recall first when someone asked, What was it like in the bubble?

  • Moments after winning the N B A championships Sunday night, LeBron James said this.

  • We know we all want to see better days, and when we leave here, we got to continue to push that.

  • Continue to push social injustice, continue to push against voting suppression, continue to push against police brutality.

  • Continue to push against everything that is opposite of love.

  • If we can continue to do that, all of us America will be a much better place, which we all love this country.
