Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles hi everyone Jennifer from Tarle speech with your pronunciation lesson today we are talking about two sounds at the end of a word only I've been working with a lot of native Spanish speakers who are speaking English very fluently and they're doing a beautiful job but the sounds that they're really struggling with are m and n at the end of words so let's go ahead and take a look at each of these sounds so again today's lesson is only about these sounds at the end of a word so we have m mmmm so to make this M sound all you're going to do is put your lips together mmm and the air is going to move out of your nose mmm the other sound is nnn and to make that sound again the sound is coming the air is coming out of your nose the difference is your mouth is open and the tip of your tongue is touching the back of your top front teeth nnn so we have again mmmmm and nnnn this gets very confusing at the end of the word because they sound very similar and if you don't have this combination of sounds in your language at the end of words it gets very very confusing it's important to learn the differences in these endings in certain words that are minimal pairs and a minimal pair means that the words are exactly the same except for one sound and in this case we're going to have an M and an N minimal pair at the end of words and we're going to practice these words have eight words for you today we're not going to talk much about the other sounds because again this lesson is about M mm vs. and N nn at the end of words let's give it a try let's try the M words first term we have a silent letter here we have the B we don't say it comb foam and some and sum yes those words are pronounced the same they are spelled differently now let's try words that end with the n sound turn cone phone and son now I'm going to try both words to together so you can hear the difference term turn comb cone foam phone some son I'm gonna try them all one more time term turn comb cone foam phone some Sun so remember m your lips are together mmm and n your mouth is open tip of your tongue is touching the back of your top front teeth nnn both sounds the air goes through your nose so give it a try I know people are going to notice the difference have you found this helpful we'd love a like and a share and don't forget to subscribe if you're looking for more practice please check out our products on Google Play and iTunes all the information is in the links below or at torille speech calm thank you so much I appreciate all of you have a great day
