  • To this day a lot of people don't know that I am Czech

  • and that I can speak Czech

  • because in the comments under some of my videos or vlogs where I just mention Czechia a little bit

  • I often see comments saying like

  • How come you know about the Czech Republic? or, Are you studying Czech?

  • which I find really funny because I've never tried to hide the fact that I am Czech

  • but no yeah, I'm ethnically half Czech, I was born here

  • only half because my mom is Czech and my dad is from Peru, so yeah

  • the Czech language is my mother tongue, I learned it when I was little

  • first language that I ever learned

  • and honestly I feel bad for sometimes seeing Czech people on the internet that say that English is way better than Czech

  • that they like hate our language and stuff like that

  • which I can't understand at all, because the Czech language is so beautiful

  • not to say that poems and fairy tales in Czech sound better than in any other language

  • for real, I mean like poetry and fairy tales in Czech, I'm dead

  • it's really just such a lovely language

  • sorry I got carried away a little, but yeah, my first language is Czech

  • the second language that I learned in my life was Portuguese, specifically Brazilian Portuguese

  • it's because when I was small, my dad got an offer to work in Brazil, in Sao Paulo

  • and so, my whole family has moved to Brazil

  • and we lived there for like 3 years

  • so my sister, my brother and I started to attend a Brazilian school

  • that was called Colégiorgio Buarque de Holanda

  • and there, we learned Portuguese

  • yeah

  • to be completely honest, I don't remember that much from Portuguese because...

  • after the 3 years that we lived in Brazil we came back to the Czech Republic

  • so at that time I was like 8 years old

  • and here I didn't have the need to speak Portuguese anymore

  • because here everyone speaks Czech

  • everybody here speaks Czech, nobody speaks Portuguese so...

  • yeah, that's that..

  • I forgot the majority of what I learned in Brazil

  • but currently I am... how do you say it

  • I'm relearning Portuguese in university

  • I'm learning the European version of Portuguese, from Portugal

  • which is a little bit different from the Brazilian version

  • I so far still have the Brazilian accent

  • the paulistano accent I think, because I lived in Sao Paulo

  • *brazilian slang*

  • yeah this is what I remember from Brazilian Portuguese

  • I really like this language

  • I always say that I like all the languages that I can speak the same amount

  • but if I had to choose only one, it would definitely be Brazilian Portuguese

  • yup.

  • pardon me, it's just that I'm really hungry

  • the fourth language that I learned is Spanish

  • yes, although my dad is from Peru, I started learning it in highschool

  • and yeah,

  • with that being said I wanted to say that being biracial isn't the same as being bilingual

  • I didn't grow up bilingual

  • it's because when my siblings and I were little, I think there was no reason or time to teach us Spanish

  • and so we all had to learn it in our own way

  • for example my brother learned it in his job I think,

  • my sister did an exchange in Argentina,

  • and me well.. when I was fifteen or sixteen I started learning it in my highschool

  • and yeah, I immediately fell in love with the language

  • in this period of my life, also thanks to Spanish, I started to feel a lot better for being half Czech, half Peruvian

  • let's say a „minorityin my country

  • me personally I like the Spanish a lot, it's a very rich language, it's really beautiful too,

  • and I, everytime I speaks spanish I start smiling because it just sounds really good

  • from all the Spanish countries I visited only Mexico and Spain,

  • in Mexico I went to Cancun, Yucatan and of course Mexico city

  • in Spain I went to Barcelona and Madrid

  • yeah, I really liked both countries

  • yeah I think that's it

  • finally I'd like to say hi to my teachers Marketa and Eva that taught me Spanish during the 4 years of highschool

  • for real, I couldn't imagine better Spanish teachers

  • so thank you for teaching me and...

  • for having patience

  • okay umm

  • the fifth language is...

  • *realizing how manygosounds are in the sentence*

  • so the fifth language is Japanese

  • in the year 2018 I came to Japan for the first time, and I started making vlogs

  • that's the time were my channel kind of took off

  • I did a student exchange for 3 months in the Yamagata prefecture of Japan

  • but!

  • before going to Japan, I couldn't speak Japanese at all

  • and I was really nervous too

  • I was worried that by doing a mistake while speaking, I would say something rude by accident

  • and now too...

  • of course, right now I'm nervous too XD

  • thanks to having a host family in Japan, I learned the majority of grammar and new words from my host brother

  • で、

  • Umi thank you for teaching me

  • *thank you in Shonai dialect*

  • what else...

  • the life of an exchange student in Japan was really really nice

  • the nature of Yamagata prefecture as well as Tsuruoka city were really beautiful

  • what's more, I enjoyed every single thing from my Japanese highschool, to the after school karaoke sessions, or the summer break

  • well even though I say I really liked the summer

  • the Japanese summer can sometimes really be...

  • really hot as hell

  • what else...

  • of course, I would love to visit Japan again in the future

  • so I'm continuing with my Japanese studies in university

  • by the way my favorite Japanese food is Miso Soup

  • that's why my audience is called the Miso Soup Gang

  • and now, it's anime voice actor mode!

  • Yo!

  • Remember this will ya...

  • Before you eat your miso soup

  • Definitely...

  • Stir first it okay?

  • Trust me..

  • Stir it beforehand...

  • yep this is a famous quote from Umi

  • just like a silly joke...

  • (or is it O_O )

  • Yeah that's all, thanks for listening

  • okay my last language is Chinese

  • ok..

  • after my Japanese exchange I returned to my country

  • but merely spent 1 week in the Czech Republic

  • after that week I went to Beijing and started my Chinese exchange

  • I think I don't tell you guys stories about my Chinese exchange very often

  • but actually, my 10 months that I lived in Beijing were really, really amazing

  • I made a lot of new friends

  • I ate a lot of delicious food

  • and just overall experienced a lot of fun things

  • so I think a lot of my happiest memories were made during my Chinese 10 months

  • besides, I learned Chinese

  • even though I'm still not fluent, my pronunciation isn't perfect, I make a lot of mistakes and...

  • my listening skills are also not perfect

  • but I can speak at least a bit

  • I can ask how much something costs, I can ask for direction etc.

  • I just feel like Chinese is a very comfortable/cozy language (idk how to explain it really)

  • I really like Chinese

  • it also sounds super cool

  • I'd like to thank my two main Chinese teachers, Mrs. Li and Mrs. Yuan

  • they taught me and my classmates Mandarin everyday

  • day after day they'd tell us to study hard

  • they were really..

  • like in my entire life, I haven't met better teachers than they were

  • like for real

  • actually the one reason why I'd really love to come back to China is to visit them again, just to have a chat one more time

  • okay what else, what else...

  • I'm going to tell you guys a Chinese joke okay..

  • what is the name of the worst superhero?

  • S-pi-der-man (in Chinese the pronunciation is very similiar to a word that means "loser" :D)

  • okay, that's it, I'm out

  • and the Slovak language doesn't really count, because almost every Czech person can speak or at least understand Slovak

  • so I don't count it..

To this day a lot of people don't know that I am Czech
