Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles I'm not sure if you've heard Instagram has video now. I know this is breaking news. What's up Social Savvy Social Thursday today? I'm sure you're already aware that Instagram has video. If you don't, then I am so proud of you for staying away from the computer for the last week, good for you. Just you know I was one of like five million videos that were uploaded within the twenty-four hours of this update for the app. A lot of video activity happening. But how many times have you heard me tell you, you need to be doing video? Well, here we go again, however I am going to give you specifics of how you can actually do well with video on Instagram itself. First things first, stop worrying about Vine and certainly don't refilm something that you're going to put on Vine and then also putting on Instagram. Luckily this is in a situation where you can just copy paste like you can on Facebook and Twitter, update one place and it goes to both. You can't do that with these two networks, Vine is six seconds and Instagram is 15. Do you know what that means? The content should be different, because you don't just fill up that time with whatever, it's a specific amount of time you need to plan for. That's right. I just told you to plan for six seconds. I just told you to plan for fifteen seconds. Time isn't wasted. People on Instagram are used to looking at photos, so don't waste their time with an extended video of something they don't really care about. Use up that time wisely. Next piece of advice, definitely keep up the vibe that was already going on your Instagram account. No matter if the pictures were moving or not there was a certain ambience that people like to [bud] your account which is why they subscribe. So don't change that with these videos that are wildly different than what you had going on. Stay consistent, keep followers, get more followers. Get it. Hashtags are even more important than they've ever been. But it was definitely standing out in hashtag activity because of the little video symbol on each thumbnail. So people are searching specifically for video content and a hashtag that's one way of standing out and getting new eyes on your content. In any case, the thumbnail is hugely important and Instagram is giving you the opportunity to pick what that looks like instead of just being the first frame. So definitely be aware of what thumbnail you're using because you got to pick it and stick with it and whether or not that's going to get the attention that you're hoping the video as a whole is looking to attract. Last, please don't forget to keep taking photos. Instagram is built on photography. So let's stick with that too. If you're completely away from that it's just going to seem like you decided to have a Vine account on your Instagram following and people may not like that as much. They might have liked your photography which is why they're following you in the first place. New features are great but not always appropriate. So keep that in mind. PS. If it's bad audio, take a picture. It doesn't matter if it would have been better as a video. If it's bad audio nobody's watching it. [That's all]. Thank you so much for watching. I'd appreciate if you really like this video, you could subscribe to my newsletter. I send a ton of information out there once or twice a week. I will not sell your information of course and definitely subscribe, likes, favorite and stuff all those YouTube things that they have here, that helps my channel out a ton. I am sorry there's a buster I am having... but I am not re-recording this. So deal with it. Yeah, that's pretty much it. You can talk with me in the comments or on Twitter @schmittastic and @ savvysexysocial and I will see you next week. We will be back for Savvy Tuesday. Okay, bye.
