I am going to be finding out what my actual ethnicity is and how my DNA affects

I guess my lifestyle since I've started YouTube, the question I get asked the most is

What ethnicity are you and even though

I've said it so many times people still I guess get the wrong idea and they tell people that I'm actually Japanese

I'm actually Korean whenever I get asked this question I always respond with Vietnamese because to me it makes sense my

Parents, my grandparents are Vietnamese, so I just tell them that I am Vietnamese

But I get a lot of people telling me that I'm not actually Vietnamese. I'm actually Korean or Japanese and I'm like

Okay, now. I know my ethnicity

Is quite confusing because my channel I base it around Japanese makeup and skincare traveling in Japan and Korea

I speak Japanese I lived in Japan so you know I understand it does get confusing most of my family live in Denmark so

Yeah, I thought today once and for all I'm going to be telling you guys where I'm actually from by doing a DNA

Test. So in today's video,

I'm going to be doing a test to see where my ancestors are

actually from and I'm going to be doing this with the help of

23andme so the name 23andme comes from the fact that the human DNA has

23 pairs of chromosomes and from the tests that you take you might find some information

On where your ancestors are from and also how your DNA

Influences your lifestyle for example how you sleep, taste buds, your facial features, just to name a few. Anyway,

I never really looked into my family tree at all when people ask me what my ethnicity is I always responded with Vietnamese because

That's the answer that makes the most sense to me, but I always knew that there's probably like other

Ethnicities that I'm mixed with which I don't really know about. So let's get started and find out what I actually am.

First off, you need to order your 23andme kits, which I have right here

And then you need to follow the instructions inside. Then your sample and also register your sample, set it off

and it will be analyzed. So let's just open up and try it out today first.

I'm going to register my sample kit that I have to go to

23andme.com/start

and then you have to register your details here to sign up for us

So I'm gonna do that now. Now that I've registered, I have to verify my email.

So I have received email right it's in the quick verify email alright

So then you get sent to this page where you need to find your barcode.

This is a package when you open it up, so you've got this and your barcode is just on here.

So I'm gonna register that now. Alright, that's all done now, registered.

I need to spit inside this test tube. So for your results to be more accurate,

don't eat and drink for at least 30 minutes.

I had a snack about an hour ago, so it should be okay now.

So I need to spit until I get to the line right here,

and then this part here should fill up. Then you have to close this and you remove this and then close it with this.

Got it. Let's do this.

I just have to wait six to eight weeks for my results that I will see you guys when I get them

Hey guys, so it's been about six weeks since I last filmed the part where I gave my sample to 23andme.

I just received an email that my test results are ready, so I'm really excited to find out what I actually really am so

Before I look at the results. I have a feeling that I'm going to be 100% Vietnamese

I do believe I do have a bit of Chinese in me,

I don't know how much.

So, let's just get straight onto it and have a look at the results. From the results that yes,

I am 100 percent Asian, which is already given. I already knew that, but uh yeah, I am

76.8%

Vietnamese, Southeast Asian, actually it might not even be fully Vietnamese. Um they didn't tell me exactly and East Asian

22.8%

probably Chinese, okay, so

Now you can go back to I guess your physical traits, and let's have a look. Likely to sneeze after eating dark chocolate...

I don't eat dark chocolate,

I don't really like it, but I don't recall sneezing after eating dark chocolate before this so, that might be true.

Less back hair. I guess I don't really have that much back hair so that's true

Let's have a look at my DNA family. Okay, so this tells me are where my other relatives are who have also taken this test

337 DNA relatives in my 23andme DNA family so that's really interesting.

So I don't have any close family like close family or second cousins,

but I do have third to fourth cousins or fifth to distant cousins, um

294 of them, so I can actually see the world map, and it seems like all of them live in the u.s.

So let's look at the US map

55 live in California, 5-10 in Texas, 5-10 in Virginia

5-10 in New York and then and

ancestry of your DNA relatives so

Actually most of them are Chinese, so 185 of them are Chinese,

140 are Southeast Asians, 20% is Korean, okay, so comparing me and my DNA relatives

105 percent more likely

to be able to do the side

splits. I used to be able to do the splits when I was like very young, not anymore though.

75% more likely to make new year's resolutions,

not sure about that because I do make new year's resolutions, but they last for about a week

and I'll forget about them, 70% more likely to be able to do a cartwheel.

I guess when I was young I used to be able to not anymore...

Yeah, never lived near a farm. 60% more likely to have perfect pitch... alright.

Well, there's more. 46% more likely to have learned a foreign language as an adult? Yep? I um

to be able to wiggle their ears, I cannot do it at all.

don't like it. 29% less likely to own a cat. Yeah. I don't think I can ever get a cat. I prefer dogs

I don't think I sweat that much at all and yeah

I don't like bean sprouts or cucumber because they just taste like crunchy water to me.

14% less likely to like the taste of dark licorice. Yes true because I don't like dark liquorice. 13% percent more likely to exercise

at light to moderate intensity. Yeah, I guess I would be pretty light when I exercise. A lot of information about me

I just found out about. That's very, very interesting stuff. I've got a lot of I guess," relatives" in the US.

That's really interesting stuff that I didn't know before finding out a few more things about me

and I guess my ancestry line. Yeah, it really helps me uh I guess connect more with

who I am and
