  • the landmark case in China, a man has been ordered to compensate his wife for the house work she did during their marriage.

  • The ruling by a court in Beijing is the first of its kind following the introduction off a new marriage law in China.

  • Now the woman will receive the equivalent of $7700 for five years worth of work, the case generating significant online debate about the value off domestic work.

  • BBC's Carrie Allen told us what the reaction has been like on Weber, China's equivalent of Twitter.

  • One of the circumstances of this particular divorce, Carrie Well, the couple have been together for five years on, but he was actually the one who filed for divorce back in 2000 and 20 last year on Duh.

  • So a lot of people just don't want to get married anyway.

  • And this has The government has concerns about this because this could lead to a stalling birth rate.

  • So it's been trying to do a lot to try and get couples together.

  • So this is partly why this civil code is is a big thing for China.
