It comes a day after Akufo Addo urged people in the West African state to ignore conspiracy theories surrounding the shots. Um, and skepticism there about coronavirus vaccines is largely driven by mistrust of pharmaceutical companies as well as other beliefs. Other senior political, religious, judiciary and legislative leaders have also pledged to take the vaccine publicly in an effort to reassure citizens of its safety. A nationwide inoculation campaign against the virus will launch on Tuesday. Ghana was the first country to receive vaccines as part of the World Health Organization's Kovacs program, aimed at providing poorer nations with vaccines. A second wave there has caused cases to surpass 84,000, and there have been nearly 200 deaths in the past month alone.
