Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Ah, look at 'em. Ain't he a doll? Both two dimensional and too grumpy, DoodleBob is one of those characters that, well, frankly, makes no sense. Let's examine. I'll draw me and when Squidward answers the door, it won't be me. His appearance is bizarre, to say the least. The eyes are inconsistent and off center. The hands are not really hands. All he needs is tie. But at least he remembered to add a tie. Ready for action! Say what you will about SpongeBob's amazing Krabby Patty building skills. But his drawing skills leave a lot to be desired. Eh, everybody's a critic. But wait, didn't SpongeBob claim... "I was voted most artistic in high school."? And judging by skills in Squidward's art class, he's not kidding. What the? How the? A perfect circle? First, I draw this head, Then, I erase some of the more detailed features And one, two, three... a circle, uhh, thingy. So why is this self-portrait so crude? It makes no sense. Next, we must look at how DoodleBob was created. Pencils typically draw on paper. Standard, right? But have you ever seen a pencil drawing on sand? Pretty good, SpongeBob. How about a rock? Or on somebody's face? Life is good! I mean, maybe with a marker, sure, but a pencil? Hair! This makes very little sense. I guess that's why this pencil is magic. We found a magic pencil! How about the opposite of creation? This pencil is equipped with an effective eraser that not only erases drawings, but sponges and butts, as well. [talking gibberish] [screaming] Does this make sense to you? Ha-ha, didn't think so. But what about when SpongeBob attempted to erase DoodleBob from existence? I am SpongeBob! Destroyer of evil! Oops, missed a spot. So parts of DoodleBob can act on their own? [footsteps] [toilet flushing] Oh and the hand just used the toilet? Um, waiter, can I get a little more sense sprinkled onto this meal? Side note, at one point, the magic pencil is brought back. Boink! Has... has SpongeBob been keeping it in his brain this entire time? What else is he keeping in there? Ah, that's too much. Moving on. Where did this magic pencil come from, anyway? Let's track its origins. [screaming] [screaming] [screaming] Ah ha! It came from the surface, which explains its photographic qualities. But why would the artist take a boat to the middle of the sea to draw the sea? Standing on the shore is much less bouncy, and your art doesn't require a life preserver. I'm just saying, saying it doesn't make sense. But back to do to DoodleBob, himself. He sprung to life after being drawn in the sand, which makes no sense by itself. But what is with the attitude? Ooh! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! He's beating up Squidward! [laughing] He came from SpongeBob having a bit of fun. So shouldn't he be having a bit of fun, too? Since this makes none. [talking gibberish] Besides the attitude, DoodleBob has a lot to say. [talking gibberish] I-I'm sorry, what was that? [talking gibberish] Hmm. I can't get much from that. Let's analyze this scientifically. Let's try inverting the stereo image while reversing the time flow in a spectrogram. [talking gibberish] Well, even with all that science, none of what he says makes any sense. What do you think you're doing, Doodle?! You Doodle! Me SpongeB-- Hold it. Wait. Wait. We got something. He just spoke in English, nonetheless. You Doodle! Me SpongeBob! Why? Most of it is in gibberish, and now he decides to communicate clearly? Here, go ahead and analyze this audio clip. [talking gibberish] This makes no sense. He was just a two dimensional creature lost in our three dimensional aquatic world, longing for a purpose. That's true, DoodleBob is quite flat. But one thing doesn't add up. How does this two dimensional living drawing understand our three dimensions? Once DoodleBob uses the magic pencil, he's able to create three dimensional objects, such as a bowling ball. And now a deep hole in the ground. [screaming] How would he even know these things exist? And for that matter, how does any of this make sense? Uh! Where's the leak, ma'am? Maybe things make more sense within the doodle dimension. He is, after all, a two dimensional being. So maybe... [talking gibberish] No. Ha. Nope, all hope of this making sense is lost. SpongeBob, Patrick, get us outta here. Sandy, we're back! DoodleBob, he's wily, he's two dimensional, he makes no sense, and for that he's an unforgettable entry in SpongeBob SquarePants. [talking gibberish] You know what does make sense?
