hey wow it just keeps getting more impressive doesn't it there's just
one after the other after the other just blows my mind like today is one of those
days where i'm actually speechless like this has been so much grander than i was imagining
well good morning good morning good morning bright and early
bright and early for a very special excursion today i'm feeling super pumped because today
we're going to be seeing glaciers up close and personal oh my gosh this is just we've never seen
this before i don't know i don't know how you just seen glaciers before i don't think i have
nothing like what we're going to see today no not even so we've signed up for a full day
boat excursion we're getting picked up in a few moments we're gonna drive down to the port
and then we're gonna be sailing all day from what i've read in the brochure we're visiting a minimum
of five glaciers and going hiking it's gonna be amazing and we picked the best day to go out
the winds are calm the sun is out i don't think there's a cloud in the sky i mean i
haven't quite looked out fully but from what i saw looking out the window didn't see any
clouds yeah just can't wait to go and and to see this is just going to be like kind of a once in
a lifetime type of experience i think and we're gonna bring you guys along let's do it let's go
well guys we have made it to the port this is a private port it's called puerto soledad
our excursion will be departing from here we are now in the provincial
park so we had to pay our entrance fee it was 810 pesos for international visitors
so that's currently like 12 13 or if you have your dni if you're a resident it is 410 pesos
and a bit less if you're from this particular province so yeah we've
got our tickets we are all sorted it's also worth mentioning if you are visiting the park
um on back-to-back days when you come back on the second day you get 50 off of the entrance
so that's one way to save money visiting on back to back days you just have to show your receipt so
yeah that's it for now we're gonna board our boat and go cruising on lago argentino biggest lake in
the whole country biggest lake in all of argentina what are you thinking let's do it we did this boat
tour with marpa tag aboard maria turqueza we boarded at 8 30 am and set sail by 9 with a
plan to be back at port by 5 pm so it was a full day excursion the name of this particular tour
is glaciers gourmet this is because for lunch you can choose between a gourmet tasting menu served
on the private deck or a fancy lunchbox which is what we opted for but more on the food later
so yeah we basically we found our seats um a lady came by and told us about our lunch options
so we're going to be having a patagonian lamb sandwich later on today caramelized onion yes
sounds delicious it comes with a drink as well and for the time being we're not allowed to go
on the deck obviously when you first kind of pull out of the out of out of the not the ship
when you first pull out of the port you're usually not allowed on the deck that's been
for almost every ferry ride we've ever been on but they will be giving an announcement
soon letting us know when we can go out and i'll be out right away we'll be ready for it
guys i'm ready i'm ready to get out there guys we are going past floating icebergs how cool
oh
we just saw our first iceberg i think that's the first iceberg in my whole life it was amazing it's
amazing like yeah i know it's i'm speechless too apparently this is just gonna be a tiny one yeah
this is just the beginning we've been told it was amazing and we got so close to it and the
color of the ice it's such an indescribable blue like look we're going past it right now
iceberg and i'm enjoying a vanilla cappuccino with a view of an iceberg on a lake in patagonia
argentina like what is this yeah it's remarkable and pastries and pastries i got the face first
this has been an amazing day so far like we're just getting started here this is just
the beginning of the experience oh my gosh i feel like you guys are going to be in for a long
episode it's going to be a masterpiece of just natural beauty you need to come to argentina like
i'm never going to stop singing this country's praises there's just so much to see here
all right guys now we're gonna go fishing for ice let's do this if you're a whiskey drinker
this part of the tour is your opportunity to enjoy a wee dram with some ice picked straight off an
iceberg
oh
oh
we saw a lot of glaciers on this lake excursion and i don't know if i'm going to be able to list
them all but this first one right here was glaciar seco which translates to dry glacier
this is a hanging glacier and its name refers to the fact that it's currently receding
then we continue towards heim glacier which is another hanging glacier that
had these incredible melt water cascades running down the side of the mountain
guys more and more glaciers now we're just watching
how glaciers slowly melt and you get these waterfalls this runoff coming down the mountain
like today is one of those days where i'm actually speechless like this has been so
much grander than i was imagining so much bigger so many more glaciers than i thought we would
see i thought it was just the one you know berito moreno which everyone knows this has been such a
wonderful surprise and now we're cruising towards another massive glacier oh my gosh that's next
next on the itinerary was spigatsini glacier which is named after carlos
luis pegazini the italian argentine botanist who was the first to study the local flora
the main characteristic of this glacier is its height which reaches 135 meters along its front
this makes it the highest glacier in los glaciates national park and one of the most important
do
great
next up it was time to stretch her legs so we disembarked in a place called
puesto de las vacas which literally translates to cow stall this place was named so because
of the runaway cows that either got lost or escaped from their estancias
and somehow ended up living in this part of the park we enjoyed a short guided walk through here
okay guys so we have now disembarked in puesto de las vacas and we're going on a little bit of
a hike we've been split up into three different groups two in spanish one in english we're all
going with the guide and we've just been learning a little bit about this home right here you can
probably see sam hiding in the shade yep that's my husband um but basically there was a project going
on here in the national park to try and eradicate all the wild cows that were living here so
the people who decided to volunteer for this job were a finnish man with his chilean wife and their
son and they lived in this house right here this little log home oh a creature just landed
on the lens and it was their job to try and gather these wild cows that were wandering through the
park and tame them and then transport them into town into el calafate so yeah a very isolated part
of the park to live in no neighbors just them just this one family of three living here in the park
you
do
hey it just keeps getting more impressive doesn't it we're up close and personal and
unlike the first few that we saw earlier on in
the trip like there's just one after the other after the other just blows my mind
lunchtime lunch has arrived and this is a gourmet lunchbox guys it comes with a sandwich which i'm
going to open in a minute with lamb potatoes and carrots with some dip and it also came with the
complimentary drink so all this is included in the price we decided to go with grapefruit pomelo yeah
and then you know because how often do you get to have a special experience like this so we decided
to splurge a bit not even a splurge we paid 300 pesos for malbec elementos 2019. five bucks
uh it was five bucks 300 pesos five us dollars and uh yeah cheers to that sure
cheers since you can't do it since you're behind the camera and yeah yeah let's try that sandwich
oh look at that beauty nice and warm look at some cheese that's delicious i'm really hungry
at this point yeah me too this is a great lunch i think we have about an hour until
we reach the next destination yeah we can just sit back relax have some wine enjoy our meal
life is good at the moment well they just brought us some glacier ice yeah i'm just gonna say you
may notice an ice cube in here but this is a very specialized cube a glacier ice cube
i can't say i've ever had one of those before i know some people have been putting whiskey
in there i'd rather have whiskey but i've only got grapefruit juice at the moment
oh you didn't have wine my friend should i get some whiskey i did have one that's true
the most refreshing ice cube in the whole world right right here in this cup that's awesome
well this was unexpected the best surprise of the day we we really didn't think we
were getting dessert we had finished lunch for quite a while i was almost ready to nod
off for a bit even with this great scenery it's ready to take a bit of a nap and look what came
they have a little delicious looking dessert it's got brownie chunks
blueberries i think cream and uh the dulce de leche the argentine caramel at the bottom
oh that's way better than i was thinking like i know it's a gourmet dessert they weren't
kidding when they called this a gourmet uh gourmet lunch and as good as this lunch is
above us would you willing to pay 5 000 pesos more which is about 80 or 90 us dollars more you
have an exclusive room and uh i think it's like a four or five course meal there but this has been
amazing i'm i'm happy with our choice down here me too this has been great it's been very good
wow
then we entered canal de los tempanos also known as the iceberg channel
where we began to cruise towards the perito moreno glacier now this glacier right here is
an icon of los glaciates national park it's the reason why people travel all the way to southern
patagonia argentina to see this one glacier what is so special about perito moreno glacier
well for starters it's one of the few glaciers in the whole world that is
still growing it's also pretty massive the glacier's front is five kilometers long
its height above the water is about 60 meters but its total depth is about 170 meters so
you're actually only seeing a small portion of what it really is it took our breath away
guys we are back from what
i'm speechless i have no words what i'm trying to say is we are back from what may very well be
the best excursion we've ever done well it's the best boat tour for sure sure the most epic
the most epic like times three we could have just gone to one of the glaciers and been blown away
yeah but by going to all three unbelievable it just kept getting better and better yeah and okay
sam is saying three like yes we visited three major glaciers but we also saw a whole bunch of
other hanging glaciers yeah along the way it was just so much more than i was imagining expecting
the glaciers were so much grander yeah like to be honest like if you've if you've made to this
part in the video you've obviously seen our footage it's nothing like seeing it in person
you got to do it yeah i mean i go back on that tour tomorrow is that good there's that much
fun um and definitely if you can do it on a day like we had today with the right conditions you
know sunlight not too many clouds the wind being reasonable that's that's the key really yeah yeah
and i will say this tour was a little bit of a splurge for us so it was 8 000 pesos which
right now is 130 us dollars included pickup from our place yes transportation to and from
included the meal with uh with a beverage um and all the epicness all the epicness
and there there are cheaper boat tours where you get to like you know go and see the glaciers
um but this one it was a really comfortable boat like we had nice seats it was very spacious um
like you also had different levels of decks where you could go out and and see the glaciers
from different angles so it was a bit more of a high-end experience yeah but well worth it if
you ask i'd say well worth the splurge yeah i mean it's not like you're gonna visit places too many
other places like this in the world no at all so i mean if you're here it's so worth doing this so
worth coming here for this experience yeah like this is one of those wow moments in travel that
you don't always have sometimes maybe if you've been traveling for a while you maybe haven't had
that moment in a while yeah but you do something like this and it just forget it like today we were
just so pumped to be out there so excited to be filming and like documenting this for you guys
it was just a magical day really yeah i can't remember how many clips but it's probably over
a thousand including photos it's just nuts like our cameras were just and we also made up a point
of enjoying it with their own eyes yeah okay that's enough camera i'm just like looking
yeah oh my gosh so yeah once we were finished the tour we were dropped back into town found a little
place where we grabbed three little burgers mini burgers shared those and then walked back here and
had a little bit of a nap had a little bit of rest yeah yeah so if you guys are coming to el
calafate santa cruz the company that we did this tour with it's called mar patag and you can book
it through numerous agencies in terms of kel tour we use caltour yeah they're they're really good
they have a really really friendly really friendly staff they do yeah and they speak english so yeah
great experience nothing but good things to say and i mean we've still got more time here in
el calafate argentina so we'll be back with more videos we will thanks for watching guys yes
you
