Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hey, my lovelies. So when life hands you lemons, you know what to do; go ahead and make some lemonade, five delicious ways. Today we are celebrating one of the best flavors of the season with some tasty lemonade ideas. I'm going to kick things off by sharing my classic lemonade with you, and then I've got some awesome flavor combinations I think you guys are going to love. Now, homemade lemonade couldn't be simpler to make. It's just a combination of freshly squeezed lemon juice, some sugar, and some water. The real secret is in the simple syrup though. To make simple syrup, you simply heat a saucepan on the stove at one part sugar, one part water and then stir it until the sugar dissolves completely. It's basically just liquid sweetener so you don't end up with any graininess in your lemonade. Now lovelies, I definitely recommend if you're freshly squeezing lemons, you will want to use this handy tool. I swear to you, it is worth its weight in gold. It will help you get through a lot of lemons in just a little time. So, we are simply going to mix our lemon juice into our pitcher, add loads of that beautiful simple syrup, and then top it all with some water. Now, you have tons of options. Once you've got your classic lemonade recipe down, you can do this with sparkling water if you want to make it nice and bubbly. or you can add any combination of wonderful flavors. First up, I've got some incredible raspberry lemonade. I'm simply going to add a whole keeping helping of raspberries into the bottom of my pitcher. Give them a little bit of a muddle - muddle is a bartending term. It just means breaking things up to release their flavor. Next, we are going to add our lemon juice, our simple syrup, of course. You're going to really want to amp up the sweetness in this because both lemons and raspberries are known for their tartness. And then you have your beautiful water to finish it all off. Now, we're going to let this sit for at least 20 minutes to allow all that raspberry goodness to transfer over into the lemonade. You have the option to strain it if you want to or just leave it nice and chunky like this. Next, I am making a really tasty orange-thyme lemonade. I love combining fruit flavors with fresh herbs. I always get great results when I do it. In this case, we're going to start by infusing our simple syrup with some fresh thyme sprigs. You'll just want to let those sprigs hang out in your simple syrup for 5 to 10 minutes to infuse with all that flavor, and then you can get to work on your lemonade. Once again, we are starting with our freshly squeezed lemon juice. To that, we're going to add our time-infused simple syrup and a good splash of freshly squeezed orange juice. We're gonna top this off with some water and some fresh orange slices and thyme for even more wonderful flavor. We're just going to give it a nice stir, let it steep for a few minutes, and it will be ready to enjoy over some ice. This next lemonade is made with hibiscus tea. Once again, we're starting with our classic lemonade recipe. And to that, I am adding some hibiscus tea that I've just steeped and allowed to cool. Look at that gorgeous color. If you're not familiar with the delicious flavor of hibiscus, it's got beautiful herbal, floral notes that are really nicely complemented by the tartness of traditional lemonade. Next, I've got one of the best flavor combinations summer has to offer: My peach basil lemonade. To my pitcher, I am adding some freshly chopped peaches and some basil that I'm just gonna tear up. Tearing your basil helps it release all of its tasty flavor, and it makes your hands smell incredible. I love the smell of fresh basil. I'm also going to add a splash of peach juice to this. Now this is optional, but I do find it really, really amps up the peachiness in this drink. Then I'm going to add my lemon juice, my simple syrup, and to make this drink extra effervescent, I'm going to use some sparkling water. Just peachy. Finally, for something a little different, I want to show you a cool, sweet and spicy lemonade. It's my honey cayenne lemonade, and in this case, instead of making our simple syrup with clean sugar, we're actually going to make it with honey. I'm simply combining my honey and water in a saucepan on the stove, and I'm going to stir it until the honey dissolves. Then to add a little kick, I'm going to add a Sprinkle of cayenne pepper. I'm sure I don't have to tell you a little cayenne can go a long ways. So use your discretion here. Once you've got that sweet and spicy simple syrup ready, you can simply add it to the rest of your lemonade ingredients, and this tastiness is ready to be enjoyed. The best part about it is how it makes your lips tingle while you're drinking it. Our team gave it two thumbs up. Guys, I really hope you find all of these tasty ideas refreshing and that they'll help make your lemonade stand ahead of this season.
