Shyabu Shyabu is a unique Japanese cuisine that you have to experience to understand.

It's kind of like fondue, but with Japanese meats, veggies and sauces.

They get you seated and setup, and then it's up to you to decide how much you're going to eat.

Once your order, you need to watch for the serving robots that bring you your food.

It's going to come to us when the food is ready?

The robot brings it, it sounds like - for the dishes too...

So, we are going to do all you can eat

So we are going to go with kind of cheap because we have a lot of people to pay for.

This course has grass fed natural beef and pork.

And this one has beef and pork.

This one is only pork.

That's about 7,000 yen. Let's do it!

After choosing what meats you want, you need to choose what flavor broths you will use to cook everything.

The choice is not that easy.

Oh, we select the 2 different kinds that we want.

The different kinds of broth to cook it in.

Oh, spicy red kimochi. Kimchi.

I don't think they would like it.

Sukiyaki? Yeah, I think so.

It's what they offer for every one. I think just leave it.

Yeah, that looks good.

If you've figured that out, you're still not done.

You now decide if you will do the drink bar or not.

Now I gotta select the meat. Ohhh, now select.

Now you're ready to order what meets you will begin with.

We're ordering a variety to try them all.

Ok now you can probably do pork belly. I'll bet that's good.

Ok, we're all ordered.

And we are going to go get our stuff over there. Should we go get our drinks? And there is also a salad bar guys.

And you have to put gloves on to get it. Ok, should we go?

How is it? Anna, getting her glove on for our buffet.

Yum. Look you can get your rice and you can get some curry. Oh boy Sarah. I want curry.

Oh, it's spicy.

Yeah so these are all the things you can put into our shyabu-shyabu to cook it.

Cool, huh?

Getting their drinks at the drink bar. There we go.

Upon returning to our seats, we had a very special visit.

Joshua flagged down the robot so he wouldn't run off with our meat.

Wow, this one is ours.

Here's our meat.

All the meat has come.

It comes in these trays here.

And then you put it in the oil.

The oil is going to cook it.

No clue if I'm doing this correctly.

It's ok, its going to be good anyway.

Oh boy.

You don't have to give it very long, and the veggies and meat simmer together into a delicious pot of food.

Oh yum, ok.

There's pork and beef ... Pork and beef, different sauces.

Different veggies in there. Does that look good Becca?

Becca's going to try her first bite.

Oh that's good!

Oh Joshua, look what Mommy got you.

Oh, she wants more though. Ok, that's not a bad sign.

After the kids were started on their food, it was time for Ruth and me to dig in too.

That's kind of a nice robot that gives you food, right?

Ohh, daddy's turn to try it.

Let's try it. Some pork belly and the veggies.

It's not that hot.

Yeah, it isn't.

Oh, it's good.

And then the beef…

That's good too. Wow.

Through the smoke, having her curry rice.

We were down to our last trays of meat, so we ordered more and went back to the salad bar to get more veggies.

Through all the taste testing, we found our favorites.

So the normal broth, it kind of just tastes like it was boiled in water.

But the other sweet teriyaki is awesome. Isn't it? Do you like that too?

I think that's everyones favorite so far.

The robot just delivered the meat.

And then we have the meat and we have a whole new plate of veggies to put in.

And we have decided that the sweet teriyaki sauce is the best.

At least our favorite.

There it goes. Ok.

Oh, the veggies going in.

Shyabu Shyabu is named after the sound of the chopsticks make while stirring the hot pot,

but apparently it's also what happens inside the kids' stomachs as they eat.

I kind of need to go to the bathroom too...

In the middle of the meal and what needs to happen?

Bathroom. Bathroom.

When we have a special time, where do you want to come? I want to come to Shyabu-shyabu.

Oh really, huh? That's how much you like it?

Did you know that I remember the first time when we got cotton candy?

The kids took full advantage of the desert bar. There wasn't a single desert left behind.

And what did you guys get? Ice cream?

Look Daddy what happened to my ice cream.

Oh, you turned it into a shake.

This is what I do all the time with ice cream. Oh, is that what you like?

For me, a bit of coffee with some soft cream is just right.

Momma found some waffles.

We were quite surprised at all the great things they offered at the buffet.

We came for the Shyabu Shyabu, but if you just came and got the food and drink bar, you would eat quite well.

Oh Sarah, does that look so good?

You got a lot of shaved ice. Yeah! Sure did.

Oh, here comes some melon shaved ice.
