I've went around Japan and gathered some of the most unique japanese canned foods. A lot of this I've never tried before. It will be my first time. Some of them are probably pushing the edge in advance. I do apologize if I overstepped any bounds with some of this food, but it is part of japanese culture and this is what they eat. But like always if you guys want to see what I'm doing on the daily check on my instagram account. If you guys wanna help support the channel, check out the Tokyo Japan merch. And if you guys have any questions about japan or your Japan travels, check out my discord community that said without further ado, let's try some ultra unique Japanese canned foods. Number one fried chicken, Teriyaki mayo flavor. You know, I love fried chicken. And what better way to celebrate this video than I have karate fried chicken in a can. Have you ever thought or like that? This would actually happen in our lifetime to have fried chicken in a can. I'm just so happy. Okay, let's open this one up. What do we have here that smells like fried chicken? It's interesting because when you think of fried chicken, you think of something that's crispy on least I think of something crispy. But when you look at this, it's kind of gooey inside. I was thinking fried chicken like freshly hot fried crispy fried chicken in a can. This is not the case. So hesitant now. But anyways, let's try like they're like, yeah, they're like pretty decent sized pieces of fried chicken as you can see. I think I sent my expectations too high. I think they were here when realistically they should have been here. And I think, yeah. So yeah, it doesn't even seem like fried chicken. It just seems like chicken of the Nazi. It has the same texture and moistness as a can of chicken. Not as excited about this as I thought it was going to be. Well, it's supposed to have a teriyaki and mayo sauce. You think it's okay? Yeah, I was just expecting a little bit more. The sour nous. It doesn't have that mayonnaise tastes so I think some people that don't like mayonnaise may not like this as well. But yeah, we can. Who would've thunk number two? Dashi Maki, japanese rolled egg. I think egg in general is not so strange in a can, but a japanese, Tomoko Yaki or Dashi Maki is maybe a little bit on the rare side. You don't see this very often. There's one I'm expecting to be pretty good. I don't think you can mess it up too much because the egg always preserves pretty well. I think it can, the eggs and like those plastic pouches before. I have like kind of a good feeling about this one. Pop pop, pop, pop, pop. It smells like tomato yucky as expected. You can see all the different layers. It's basically when you, if you ever cooked Amagasaki, basically you get thin layers of egg and then you just keep on folding it into itself until it makes this thick piece of egg to take the first bite of this guy. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. I knew it was gonna be good. Doesn't have like a dashi taste to it. It's super moist. But it does have that egg texture. But you know what? You can have this any time you want until 2020 for like when you can just have like these one ever because you know like tamagotchi does go bad, but you can make it pretty quickly. I don't know if you can make it. It's not like making eggs, you gotta like flip it. How long do you think it takes to make one whole thing like this of tomato? Yeah, 10 minutes. That's a long time when you can just pop a can and you're good to go. This is a pretty good problem. You won't try. I think you should try, wow, that's big and there's like four pieces total. What else, wow, they can make it this good, wow, that's really good. I don't taste the artificial light can taste so much. It's not too sweet. Like mm So this company is in business for 75 years. Doing just, it's like a specialist for eggs. I like this number three baquero horse and deer meat. This one was screaming to me off of the shelves. This is horse meat. This is something that japanese people also eat. Um, it's part of their culture. Like it's not like an everyday thing. But if you go to like Kaia, it's pretty common. It is pretty common, right? Like it's not as frequently eating beef. I'm just gonna show you guys if you guys have an issue with that, let me know. That one also has a deer. Oh, but then here it says is, oh, chica Chicago. It's a type of deer that lives in there you go. And then they had a play on words by calling it, which means a few interesting. And then it says, I show you as a soy sauce flavor. It's open this up. Um, Bakayoko. Oh, look at this. So this one looks pretty red, surprisingly. It's not like gooey and like oily or anything. It looks like it's going to be super dry. Let's try this piece. Mm hmm. And this is beef jerky potential. This is something that you would get in like a plastic pouch right before you get on the shinkansen and have it with your beer. It's not bad at all. I really can't taste that it's deer or horse. It just tastes like meet, there's no like gangrenous to it. Or maybe it's the sauce like to show you a g, It has a sweetness. You know, it's something I would eat. Normally surprisingly good. I like it. I would have a few cans of this at home and just say, hey, well no, I wouldn't have a few cans. And if you guys are really upset, I'm not gonna have this. Yeah, I could keep on eating this. Try it. Are we eating different cans? It's so stinky. No, it's not. No, can you try one more? Were never like this far apart on like food. I think Michael just got a bad piece. There you go. That was the honest truth number four. Okonomiyaki, Look what we have here. We have Okonomiyaki. It says it's Osaka's maybe Osaka is known for Okonomiyaki. It looks like it comes in the box. But believe me, you it is coming straight in a can. What does it say on here. First of all, I always hear like home money, but then one, How's my accent? Okay. She rolled her eyes just for the record. Usually this thing is cooked super fresh on a griddle and you just let it cook on top and then you put all the ingredients and everything. So I'm quite interested to see how this whole thing works out if it's just like in a can. Oh, okay, okay. If you look inside, you get all these different ingredients, you get the OKonomiyaki sauce bonito flakes and then you get some nutty. So a lot of the cans like say they like they recommend you heating up. But this one is like, you should so maybe we should on the ozone. Oh wow, just look inside. There's like a shrimp smell inside. There's more than one. Oh look, there's too flavorful surprises in here. Cool. Here you go. All made and good. It is nice and it comes to the bonito flakes all in a can. It's pretty impressive. You don't even have to I guess you do have to cook it but it's just ready to go. It doesn't really vinegary smell to it as well, like after putting on the sauce. Maybe. So first of all, not my favorite, but I think they did a really good job at recreating the taste. They have all of the sauce and the bonito flakes and everything. It just tastes a little bit different than when you would have it fresh just like cooked right in front of you. This thing, there is an earthquake in here in the tundra for a month. That's a good point. So if you think that the world is just crumbling outside. This is a nice meal. Oh wow. Did you know that? I didn't get that far to be honest with you, I just found octopus was a big big chunks. So it has a big chunk of something suspicious. It's seafood, eggs. It has, it has it has everything in here. I don't know why you didn't like. It's really, really good. It has a good flavor sweetness. So before we continue on, I want to give a quick shout out to our regular sponsor for this video books. Alright, bring on more canned food number five, beef tongues. Do with the Demi glace sauce, Check this out que ton in a can. So this one says aged beef tongue stewed in rich and delicious Demi gloss until tender. So when I saw this one, I definitely wanted to get. It just looks so premium. I mean just look at the packaging, it looks like it'll be served right next to the caviar and it looks like it's an equal me. So it's like boiled open this. Okay, there you go. This can I guess it's gold doesn't seem so premium after that. Maybe just look like a premium can to you. Oh yeah, we are not popping bottles but we're popping cans today. Like I was looking at the package otherwise she would have laughed at that joke. So this smells like beef stew. If you ever had beef stew, it's not so rare in the States and beef stew in a can. Yeah. I used to have when I was a kid. I think I even had like these like beef stew, microwaveable cups by them from Costco definitely can get as soon as I can and it smells exactly like that. So for those that don't know. Utan is beef tongue just quite interesting in itself. You probably don't find that a lot and maybe other countries, but these are pretty thick pieces of Utah and look at how thick that is. That is like a fatty tongue. Mhm mm I like it, it's definitely soft. It does have an interesting texture to it though. I think could be a little bit more moist when you bite into it. It kind of has a corn hash or corn beef texture to it. It gets like really shred e in the middle. I think this would be good though if you warmed it up instead of just like eating it cold. Like we're eating everything right now. The sauce itself not too sweet. I mean just a little bit sweet but it's your like traditional standard and then making our sauce. I wonder if you could fool someone if you heated this up and you put it like on a like a really expensive plate number six. Taco yucky. Are we not bringing the flavors today right now? We got up next taco yucky. This usually comes out of the truck but now it comes out of a can I love hockey hockey. Um You guys have seen multiple videos of me doing the videos. This one is made by mr khan. So it was okay so Mr Consuelo is kind of like a restaurant that has canned foods to be honest with you. After this video I don't think I want to go. It says that this one has 4 pieces in here. This does not smell like okay okay I'm just surprised that comes in such a gelatin mixture in here. I was expecting to be kind of a dry cookie. So just trying to take this out. The taco yoki itself is already breaking up. See that right there? I just tried to pick it up and it just broke in half from the just a slight pressure of the chopsticks. It's a lot harder than I thought. This is like a mushy mushy mushy mess in here. It's like a pancake that's been sitting in a sugary water for a year. Just like, maybe it's so gooey that I don't know if I like the texture and it has little bits and pieces of taco. Yeah, maybe it's just like, can you taste this and just let me know, let me know how you think I haven't eaten yet. Let me try. Okay, number seven fugu fish curry. So this one is the most dangerous fish in the world. I don't know. Maybe. So basically it is a curry. But what's interesting is that it says fuku here, fuku yaki curry. It's by far. Yeah, maybe that's why they call it. Just looking at the instructions here because you're supposed to eat it with cheese, you're supposed to heat this up. Well, let's just do the taste. This one is officially the most expensive 1000 yen. Oh it is, it's really, really thick. You can't even see the chunks of food. Really? Oh, there's a big chunk right here. Look at that big chunk of, it has a strong like japanese curry smell, but I feel like it has some extra spices in there because it's really strong, wow, that's a strong curry, but it also has a fish penis to it. Maybe that's also where the strong curry smell is coming from. Oh and it has a cake. I think it says chu cutouts. It's like medium spiciness I'm just kinda scared to eat this food. You think I'm going to be okay. I've seen this a small world. I don't know if I can handle this. You can see why you would probably also want to put some cheese on there just to even out and balance. The taste seems like really acidic. Apparently it's fugu is it's tough. I thought it was going to be soft and it would kind of melt in your mouth like a crumble. But it's really texturizing. I think overall this would be a really good dish if you prepared it correctly, but just like straight out of the can. It's just too strong for me. Can you taste this? It's so I just got one step closer. I'm standing behind the camera. Usually just now. Like over there. I smell the spice here. I smelled the fishy this. Well, that's how much, that's how much this is strong. That's how strong this is. Let's keep that. That's how strong this is. Let's use this one. I could not eat that. Can that entire, can she has a really strong fish taste. Have a little bitterness and you just need to warm it up. Probably nothing beats fresh food. Huh? Alright. Bye. Alright. So we're gonna close out here. Those are my japanese canned foods.
