Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Pete Hickerson here for RC Sport Flyer Magazine Here we are in Las Vegas Nevada at the National Association of Broadcasters convention and we came here to look for helicopters a little bit smaller than this one. We're here at the DJI Booth NAB and we are talking to Willis Chung Tell us a little bit about the new things you have from DJI at DJI we... first and foremost lets talk about this thing a bit,This is the new DJI Ronin and what this is is a hand held Gimbal much like the Gimbals we hang on the bottom of our Phantome or s800s or s1000s but it can take 16lbs of weight capacity so, a red Epic or a red Dragon with your pression or C-Motion accessories no problem. Now another product we have is the new Phantom + which you see flying right there right now. Yea Michael just flew that for us. Oh he did Great ! So he talked to you about it. yea. So this is the new model? Yes sir this is the Phantom 2Vision + it comes with a camera, and a 3Axis Gimbal. So it gets really smooth beautiful video while it's up in the air. Now this is a new product its a different camera isn't it. Well it's actually got a lot of new features as our previous camera,it's got 14 megapixel pictures1080p video, one of the cool things we've upgraded with this is the wifi range extender. while it's up in the air you can still get wifi connection even at 700 meters away. wow! yea! so you know you can get that first person view flying.and uh, with that how long does it run? 25 minutes. 25 minutes of flight time with a smart battery that is really easy to pop in and pop out. Nice! yea! What is different about this than the Phantom 2+ the Phantom 2 actually uses a lot of the same build as this one. The main difference is the smart integration of the camera into the platform. So with a camera that is already mounted it's already wired for first person view flying. So you just open and out of the box, download the app and pretty soon you'll be able to see what the camera is seeing in real time. Ok, What is the benefit of that Gimbal? The Gimbal provides really great video.we had a previous system the Phantom 2 vision and photographers loved it.You could get up in the air and take great photos. The problem was is that on two axis you still get a little bit of shake whenever, particularly when you are flying fast or you get any wind, so people that were shooting using this for video looking at our H3-3D Gimbal and can we just combine these two. Can we get the same video while at the same time getting the out of the box experience the vision offers So that is what the Vision + does it combines the best of both worlds for our users. so when you get a bump by the wind this will compensate.Well watch for yourself. See I'm not a great pilot but at the same time you can see that the camera stays amazingly steady. It looks to me you don't have to be a great pilot. Well I am learning, I still wanna get better. That's amazing. You know that is going to be great for video. You usually you want some establishing shots, you want fly around a building or coming up from the floor like a jib shot. Well you know the cool thing is that it is so easy to use. everybody is able to take it out of the box and create some unique applications for it. So we are already seeing. fire fighters archeologists search and rescue teams that aren't RC specialists that are already able to put this into work in their day to day work. It's fantastic! So get the benefit of it, Yea exactly . That's great. Well Thanks for talking to us Michael. Sure, anytime Pete/ Great little product Prety amazing 3 axis gimbal, 1080p. yea 14 megapixel, awesome. What is the frame rate. It is 30 frames per second it already has 25. 30 frames per second at 720 p you can go up to 60 frames per second for slow motion. What about if I have like a 5D mark3 do you have anything like this? We do we have the s100 which is an octacopter. Nice! can we go look at that? So we are going to power this up and this here, you are going to see a very familiar camera. The Canon 5D mark 3 and yea you are able to get your stable images from this copter. Now this copter has how many blades? It has eight blades.and it is very modifiable oh yea you want to see the adjustment from this gimble. So it's super stable. So if you have high winds this thing is going to fight the winds while keeping your image very stable. Now what is the payload capacity? I don't have an exact number for you but i also do not recommend you putting anything more than a 5D on it right now, right now meaning... So, so uh the Blackmagic uh.. That's no problem... In fact I see one there. That's awesome...The Pocket Cinema camera... Sure... Awesome, uh this is a hectacopter.... six blades. What is the total flight time with that with a 5D? With a 5D it depends on the batteries their modifiable you can put big batteries on there you can get up to like 15 minutes, but on a normal more common work flow people are putting two 5000ma batteries on there and they are getting averages of like10 minutes. Ok, that is a major lifter. Yea. Or a monster copter. yea, exactly. What you can do with this, I mean people keep saying you can do all these aerial helicopter shots. But I am kind of trying to tell people that there are things that this thing can do that a helicopter cannot. Like these paddle boarders or something like that or, or surfers you can get down close to them on the water and you won't disrupt the water and there is no way you can get a helicopter that close That is one example, there are many others.Get really close to the talent. I see there. the armatures fold in...and how about the landing gear? The landing gear folds up when you take flight. You have the ability to uh flick a switch on your radio transmiter and then uh yea. It just folds up. So you can actually spin... Here want to disconnect it for a sec. So with this emuse Gimbal it, it comes with this slip ring which enables you to spin 360˚ unlimited times, it just keeps on going. Nice. Yea. So if you want to make your audience sick... Or you could do that , or it is more about you don't want the cables being tangled. Right Exactly. So the signal goes through the slip ring. Nice, so you can pan with the controller from the ground. yep. and how about getting the picture back to the operator. Uh there are a few different ones that we have right now. The first one is the 5.6ghz standard definition transmitter and you can go pretty far with it...and the other one we have is the new lightbridge and that enables you to go almost two miles without any hiccups on video signal, 1080psignal. What is the frequency? 2.4 so your radio transmitter is also 2.4 but the good thing is you disable that radio transmitter and you work off that one lightbridge system. So that receiver actually hooks on to the.... works on that frequency. Exactly. I see, so there os no conflict. Cool!Exactly. That is a great product. Tea! Anything else new? Uh let me see , what did I say, I talked about this...The Phantom 2 vision + , there is something that people have been talking about, it is a ground station...are you familiar with that? No. Essentially it is a motion control. So there is two ways, there's the PC version and the iPad™ version. You wouldn't need a controller anymore. I mean you always have the manual override... I can program this device or the Phantom devices to fly up, you need GPS, to fly up to go in a circle, tell it where to go, Point a few different spots on an iPad™ So it's kind of like way points on a GPS. Exactly that's exactly what it is. And can you tell it how high to be at that way point? Yes. Nice. Pretty incredible. pretty amazing stuff. And with the PC version things get really precise, coordinates and where to go. Well thanks for talking to us. Of course and sorry you had to wait. No problem, have a good day. yea thank you very much man.
