Homophones are words that are pronounced  exactly the same way. So these words  

are pronounced the same way but they have  different meanings and different spellings.

So our words today are quarts  which is a unit of liquid measure  

and quartz which is a hard mineral a rock crystal.

So to say these words correctly we're  going to start with that k sound.  

To do this tip of your tongue is  low back of your tongue is pulled  

high up. Next move to a pucker for that w. And  then we're going to pull the lips back to say the  

or sound. You want to end that sound with the tip  of the tongue very low in the mouth and the back  

of the tongue pulled high up. Yes, if you've  been watching my videos you know you can also  

flip the tongue back for that er sound in that or.  Then you're going to touch the tip of the tongue  

to the back of the top front teeth for the t. And  then pull it down while you switch to letting the  

air continue out for that s. Yes this is an s  sound even though we do spell that word with a z.

Let's put that all together k-w-or-t-s

And now for a sentence: I washed  the quartz with two quarts of water.
