  • - Hi, Cookie Monster and Gonger.

  • Welcome to the mustard factory

  • where mustard is made.

  • Of course I can help you, but mustard doesn't start here.

  • The mustard you eat in a sandwich is grown in a field.

  • Mustard seeds come from a plant that has yellow flowers.

  • After time the flowers turn brown, then turn into pods.

  • A machine called a combine, takes the seeds from the pods

  • and a tractor brings them to a factory, like this one.

  • That's when we start making mustard.

  • First, the mustard seeds are ground.

  • Then, the seeds go up a big pipe

  • into a tank filled with water and vinegar.

  • Next, we add tumeric and paprika.

  • After that, the tank spins really fast

  • to mix the ingredients.

  • Then, the mixture goes through mills,

  • which grinds it all together and turns it

  • into thick yellow paste called mustard.
