  • Hello everybody welcome back to Tokyo Creatively.

  • I'm your host, Emma and today I'm here with Mr Broad.

  • What's going on?

  • Good to see you welcome back and we have come to know which has wonderful things like a winter park, lots of museums and also I'm a Yoko Yoko for sure.

  • I mean I love means candy a big fan of candy but it's not just that it's a really dynamic place in about three seconds, a very loud train it's going to come past because the whole market is built sort of underneath the train tracks right as you can see down there.

  • But it's a very dynamic place.

  • There's nowhere else in Tokyo quite like this and today we're gonna go around and see what good food we can find.

  • Right?

  • Yeah, definitely.

  • There's heaps of food stalls, lots of seafood, there's heaps, heaps, heaps and heaps genuinely.

  • I saw a heap of chickens earlier, actual big chickens and there's the drain, there's the yeah let's go a literal pile of chicken.

  • And is that pig's feet?

  • Pig's b yeah wow wow.

  • It reminds me of the scene in unscrewed it away.

  • You know when the parents are like just pulling at everything and eating everything it really feels like that.

  • It's pretty grisly.

  • I've never really wanted to eat a pig's foot but today might be a really good like you're knocking out pig's feet are like really really popular activity.

  • It's cool.

  • Okay, very soft.

  • Kind of.

  • Lots of collagen.

  • It's good for the skin.

  • There's heaps of seafood around.

  • It's everywhere.

  • Lots of big fresh fish over here and they actually get their fish from the market.

  • So yeah, Japan's biggest markets about 20 minutes away from here.

  • So it's pretty close to where the action is who wants seafood for breakfast actually.

  • Yeah, this place looks really good.

  • Come on in, I send off sky fish, more fish bowl of rice too early in the morning for exposition knowledge, but it's the freshest seafood in the entire market.

  • There is a queue, that's usually a good sign in japan.

  • Right.

  • Oh wow, there's actually quite a few waiting for things.

  • So I guess they get all this fish fresh from Toyo soup.

  • Yeah, I have my eye on this tuna, fatty tuna tuna, fatty tuna.

  • What I'm gonna get that fatty salmon.

  • Small scallops, gets a lot of scallop, fatty salmon, jesus.

  • Yeah, that's actually maybe too many scallops.

  • I've dredged up half of Tokyo Bay.

  • Sorry God, we've got our seafood bowls.

  • What did you get?

  • So this is a bowl of tuna.

  • We've got to toro upcoming kind of the nicest sort of juiciest cuts of tuna in my mind and toro here, which is sort of minced up tuna as well.

  • So basically lots and lots of what I got an under God, so, and so is sea eel and it's been steamed.

  • So I know like, I don't know, coming from overseas.

  • Lots of raw fish can sometimes be a little bit intimidating.

  • But here they also offer a cooked option, which is steamed eel.

  • And they also offer like, we just got half sizes because we're gonna be eating a lot today, but you can get a full size, like pretty cheap as well.

  • Yeah, I think this was about 500 yen for this little bowl, which is pretty good.

  • Right?

  • Because tuna is one of the most expensive fish.

  • Yeah.

  • Mm hmm.

  • It's really soft and saucy.

  • Normally with sushi and sashimi, you dip it in the soy sauce.

  • But with a bowl like this, you typically just pour it on top, right?

  • And sometimes mix it with Wasabi and make a sort of nice sauce to go on top as I've done here.

  • I'm not a huge fan of Wasabi after doing that because I did too many challenges with your creative and I had to get a punishment of eating a spoon of wasabi.

  • We did do one with jury, didn't we?

  • You know, that was fun.

  • I enjoyed that.

  • I did many when you weren't in the office as well, you can have it.

  • Do you want more?

  • No, no, Wasabi.

  • Alright, we're doing a little bit of the sauce, which is delicious.

  • Very sweet.

  • Little bit, little bit savory too much.

  • Oh, that's fine.

  • I'm a saucy girl.

  • Always forget the order.

  • There.

  • Is it mayonnaise.

  • Then fish flakes or fish flakes.

  • The mayonnaise, mayonnaise and fish flakes.

  • God, this is so yeah, that's really, oh no, we're just gonna, it's gonna not be very sexy.

  • But it's gonna oh chris yeah there's usually like like little holes.

  • Does this cute little to do that but you like trouble is the world's hottest material.

  • Right?

  • So hot.

  • Oh I can see the steam coming out from it.

  • Can you guys see that?

  • Look at that gooey, delicious, steamy goodness.

  • So steamy, you're buying that right now, your month will be ruined for the next 48 hours.

  • I'm just gonna take a little bite mm hot.

  • Even a tiny boat.

  • Don't put a whole taco jockey in your mouth.

  • Don't never do that.

  • But if you guys don't know about, you haven't explained yet octopus balls which sounds inappropriate but they're just like dough with a tiny bit of octopus inside them and fun toppings and sauces.

  • It is this batter covered in mayonnaise and worcester sauce.

  • Fish flakes.

  • There's a bit, you need a bloody telescope to see the there it is poking out through the battle.

  • Have you ever done a taco party party with myself?

  • Oh my favorite thing about hockey parties, you can choose the filling so it doesn't have to be octopus if you make them like yourself at home you can do it with like a sausage and cheese or whatever you want to put in, make them vegan or vegetarian, you can also do dessert ones with caramel.

  • You okay I'm good, I'm very good.

  • Also these were only 200 years before.

  • So it's super cheap.

  • Bring some ice cubes can help.

  • So hot, good job, banana banana is usually a very common thing you get at japanese festivals, but honestly choco banana flavor for me is kind of bland.

  • So I'm hoping the strawberries kind of wow me a little bit.

  • Thank you.

  • Wait for chris, I don't wanna be rude.

  • And he's, he's all right.

  • Whatever.

  • Mm I love the texture of the chocolate.

  • But honestly I think choco bananas better usually with strawberries, they get the candy, straw meet strawberries, which is to go on And those ones are so good.

  • So the chocolate is like, but it's still really good.

  • How's your amazing, this is the future of food.

  • Get some fresh fruit drenching chocolate and sprinkles job.

  • You got your vitamin a vitamin BC seven.

  • It's great.

  • I love it.

  • Sure.

  • Okay, I need a rest from snacking.

  • Absolutely.

  • With more snacks.

  • It's the sponsor of today's video.

  • Tokyo treat and sok cho and this month it's christmas, merry christmas.

  • Everybody, let's crack this one open because this one is christmas theme you want to, Tokyo treat treat is more like like cool popular japanese snacks that are more modern and colorful and crazy.

  • And we got a little bit of christmas going on in your kit cats of course.

  • No boxes complete with that milk tea flavor.

  • I've had cats.

  • I've never had a white chocolate.

  • Belgian waffles.

  • So I'm going to have that right now and I'm going to have the winter caramel.

  • Salted caramel, pocky.

  • Okay, I've had these from the community so they're so good.

  • They're actually my favorite flavor of pocky.

  • How is it?

  • It's good if you guys are interested in getting this kind of thing, these are accessible to you.

  • They are japanese snack boxes that can be delivered once a month to you and they change every single month.

  • Mm These are very sweet.

  • But how about we have a look at some more traditional snacks with africa.

  • So, so coco is more artisanal confectionery.

  • Right?

  • And this month it's a collaboration with Toshiki Prefecture just north of Tokyo, famous for having 600 on sends beautiful waterfalls and nature and the town of very popular tourist destination.

  • So what have we got into?

  • Oh, I see some of the stuff.

  • I see this.

  • Lemon, your con.

  • So usually this is the symbol for lemon milk.

  • Yeah, that's a torch, E.

  • G.

  • Delicacy.

  • So this is going to be a bean bar with lemon flavor.

  • And what is this?

  • That is the key.

  • So that's going to be the little table ware which you can use to usually use it to wrap up bento boxes, but you can use it to wrap up anything display it.

  • And we're gonna try and wrap up this box because I've never used one before.

  • I want to try it for you today.

  • I will eat things and you can do.

  • Craftsmanship.

  • I don't know where to begin.

  • I don't, there's so much in there.

  • Oh I'm still stuffed from the waffle and we've got the whole market to eat so I'm going to have this chocolate.

  • It's terrible.

  • Mrs cake, strawberry.

  • Yes.

  • Yeah.

  • Oh that looks nice.

  • But also with both of these boxes, you get this booklet with them and inside it not only has the allergy information but it also has the history and lots of information about each snack that you're getting and like how it's made and everything.

  • It's so cool.

  • It's really cool hearing the story behind each and every product, right?

  • Some of these products go back hundreds of years.

  • There's like families and yeah go back hundreds generations.

  • So check them out Tokyo tree and now we're gonna wrap a box, aren't you?

  • Yeah while I do this, I'm going to tell you guys that you can actually get $5 off your first, this box is too big.

  • You can get $5 off your first box but also you can win a trip to Japan.

  • They're currently doing a little giveaway.

  • So if you get some cocoa or Tokyo treat, you can go into the running to win a trip to Japan.

  • So check it out in the description down below back to the market, back to the market and back to most snacking.

  • So actually um I wasn't always a tally of market, it used to be, it was a residential area until it burned down in World War Two and then they replaced it with the market but before that it was it was all just a nice residential area and now I have the funkiest music in all of Tokyo.

  • Okay, so um, Yoko is a bit bustling, it's a bit crazy down there.

  • It's quite positively the noisiest place and take care.

  • But it's cool right the train, their crowds and then right in the middle of it all there's a little try a little temple right tucked away.

  • But I've never seen before somehow.

  • Yeah this place is called Top with I.

  • D.

  • And it's got a nice focus on the boar and there's actually a boar over here.

  • It's good luck to give it a little bit of a rub.

  • Travel.

  • Yeah, but if we give it a rub we'll get strength.

  • We get physical strength, spiritual strength and financial strength.

  • Oh please please give me strength in everything else.

  • The bore of strength.

  • Thank you, please I'll give you a little a little scratch on the nose.

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you.

  • You're the best.

  • Okay, I really appreciate it, cheers, give me the money, give me the strength.

  • Give me the good luck.

  • I really want to eat some wild balls.

  • Now, rotisserie chicken, rotisserie chicken, a little bit of roast chicken that it's kind of rare to find this kind of stuff in japan.

  • It is rotisserie chicken.

  • The only place I get, it's normally cost so to find it in the street is really rare.

  • Bloody awesome.

  • And yeah, it's really nice, nice juicy crispy skin.

  • And I think the roast potatoes are actually cooked with the chicken because they taste like they've still got that flavor.

  • It's like a little roast dinner.

  • I didn't expect this today.

  • Yeah, I mean usually with roast chicken, I'll have like gravy or something.

  • I'm interested in what this is is a bit like a roast dinner.

  • Yeah, it's good.

  • Not spicy, it's like a kabob sauce.

  • It's not that spicy, nice, peaceful streets of winter.

  • You know, there's so much like access to japanese food in Japan.

  • But sometimes, you know if you're walking along the street, you're like, I just want a little bit of a taste of home then it's nice to know you can get a registering chicken.

  • Indeed, indeed, indeed.

  • Okay.

  • We just got some ice cream.

  • There's a tea shop near the start of the street called Channel Kimi.

  • No, in and I got some green tea.

  • So you've already started, No, started without me.

  • This is a Hokkaido ice cream.

  • It's the milk comes from Hokkaido from cows up there, basically.

  • Anything dairy in Japan odds are it comes from Hokkaido.

  • Right?

  • Yeah, I've read some crazy statistic when I was cycling with that.

  • Like something like 60% of Japan's produce comes from Al Qaeda.

  • Damn.

  • I mean they have a lot of land up there.

  • Put the real statistics here editor because I probably got it completely wrong.

  • You lined with people.

  • I don't like this information on Tokyo Graham.

  • Oh yeah, I got I got a mix of Hokkaido milk and macho because I like to get the mixes because then I get two flavors for the price of one breeding.

  • I know I just want more.

  • And yeah, they sell nice, You hear like presents and you can bring the people back home if people want to try some tea products, it's nice.

  • Green tea.

  • Yeah, I mean we've just been running into people all day who are buying stuff like so many co options here.

  • Do you want to buy a hat, an ice cream or some shoes or a rotisserie chicken.

  • The possibilities are endless.

  • And now to wrap things up, let's get some alcohol because that sounds great.

  • It's like a whiskey bar in the street.

  • So it's not just ridiculous amounts of ice cream and rotisserie chicken.

  • This area is famous for, its good for just general shopping.

  • Getting bargains, whether it's cosmetics shoes, skateboards over there, there's always something and we actually ran into a view a minute ago who was getting some glitter for her sister's birthday bargain place to be.

  • Yeah, if you're trying to get some presents for people back home, there's heaps of places to buy presents and also yeah, just fashionable things or little snacks and you can bulk buy things much cheaper here than other places.

  • And not only that, I mean because it's in the right, this is where the train goes to narrator station case, a skyline.

  • Er So if you're like, it's your last day right?

  • You got to quickly buy some crap to take home to your friends, you won't appreciate them.

  • This is the place you can buy the shoes by the skateboards, put it in your suitcase, go to the airport and then let's go back to London, cheers chris Yeah, this is a little whiskey bar underneath the noisy railway tracks.

  • I don't know, it feels like a really nice authentic vibe.

  • Like the whiskey is just out, you're gonna stand and have a drink and it's a bit grungy but it's really cool.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, we've ordered because we're still hungry.

  • One of us was some more chicken and we've got some whiskey whiskey with soda.

  • I got the Yamazaki all the whiskeys on display here though.

  • Yeah, it's complicated like just try a bunch of new stuff.

  • It is and it's quite rare to have this sort of just literally on the street like this as well, whiskey bar on the sidewalk.

  • It's kind of cool.

  • Yeah, I guess it depends on what area you're in in Tokyo because some areas are a little bit more grungy and also have like outdoor bars and stuff but some of them are a little bit more pristine and tight.

  • So it depends where you go, but that concludes our tour well, wind tour of the market of a wonderful place.

  • I highly recommend coming here.

  • I've really enjoyed actually, I've not been here properly in about six years.

  • I walked through here like all the time but I never stopped.

  • I've never enjoyed so it's been really cool to dive a little bit deeper.

  • Eat literally all the food and drink the whiskey as well.

  • Have fun.

  • Have I don't know about you but I am stuffed.

  • I haven't eaten that much chicken in a while.

  • That was a lot.

  • I nearly ordered the entire rotisserie chicken.

  • Glad we didn't don't do that.

  • That's a tip there.

  • That's kind of the rotisserie chicken, you know what was your favorite dish?

  • Oh Tako Yaki, that was mine as well.

  • Yeah, it's simple but it's just so good and it's painful to eat but it's just so good that gooey dough in the middle that it really is, it might be painful but it's worth it.

  • It's worth exactly accurate nutshell.

  • But thank you so much guys.

  • You want to see us do more videos, trying food exploring markets around.

  • Okay, let us know in the comments.

  • What would you like to try if you come to your control market, let us know.
