I've never seen that. So this is kind of like catnip It's very similar. They call it catnip here But I think matatabi is slightly different than catnip. He'll be so happy! Ehh? This is the kind of soba that Japanese people eat at New Year's to celebrate the start of the new year. It's for cats, but it looks legit. What! It's even got noodles. That can't be good. [Natsuki: for people?] Shark. An advent calendar for cats. That's cute. Ah… it's for dogs. [Natsuki: Ah… for dogs] It's hard to find ones for people here. I think it's too big. Blue? Okay Oh… They have such a good selection of cat toys in Japan. It's just… It's very impressive. There's so much to choose from. Natsuki: Check! That is to check Maro's pH-levels of his pee to make sure that he's doing okay and doesn't have any problems. He's been really good recently but… Yeah… I think it'll be a good idea to check him, so that's awesome. Natsuki: Very important! Health check! Sharla: Health check! All right we got the goods. We're gonna stop and grab some lunch and then head back to my place and see if Maro likes it. I'm really excited for the matatabi plant! Natsuki: oh matatabi? Yeah, it'll be his first time trying that, so… Natsuki: Drug for… Sharla: Drugs for cats! It's like his two favorite things combined: cat grass and catnip! The shop has lots of tasty things, it's kind of hard to decide. I think I'll get the cold udon with tempura, but this one also looks really good! Sharla: Wow! Natsuki: Tempura. On the tempura…Dome! Sharla: Tempura rice bowl. [Natsuki: Udon!] Sharla: And…? Natsuki: On the kitsune… Fox! Sharla: What's that? Natsuki: Kitsune… Fried tofu Both: Fried tofu. [Music] We found a really cute store that sells only cat items. [Music] Maro! Natsuki *whispers*: Hi! Hello cat! Hi! *Sharla laughs* Natsuki: Hello! Nice to meet you! Sharla: Oh… Who's that? Oh good boy! Good boy! Natsuki: Storage! *Sharla laughs* Sharla: Good boy. Good boy! Your favourite? *Sharla laughs* Did you find your presents? *Sharla laughs* You want your grass? Natsuki: No no no no no. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Sharla: Happy boy! Got some grass? Natsuki: Come on *Sharla laughs* Six and a half hours later Natsuki: Barely healthy dinner No dressing Ooh… Natsuki: Wild! Natsuki: Wild! Sharla: What's that? New toy! Natsuki: Yay! Sharla: New toy for Maro! Natsuki: Safety! Natsuki: Maro fishing! Both: Oooh! Natsuki: Catch! All right, this is Natsuki's last weapon. Maro's never had one of these before so I'm really curious to see what he thinks of it. Present for Maro! Natsuki: Special weapon! *Sharla laughs* Sharla: Ooh! You like your toy? Maro already started chewing on it himself but we're gonna give him the catnip plant now. Sharla: Maro, what's that? It's your favorite. [Music] [Music] Sharla *whipers* What's that? [Music] Sharla: It smells like mint! [Music] Natsuki: Natural mint. [Music] *Sharla laughs* He's kind of hiding now for some reason. He's being weird but honestly Maro was a lot more friendly with Natsuki than I thought he would be. He came out really quickly and I think the grass definitely helped. I think it was a success! Natsuki: Oh! No coming! Sharla: We're going to go meet up with Chris and get some dinner. All right, we are out in downtown Sendai. Choosing an izakaya for dinner. This is… um…a really good izakaya in Sendai If you're looking for one. It's called Sharaku Chris: They do everything. They do chicken. They do wagyu sushi. Sharla: Oh..really? Chris: They do omelets, they do fish, they do sake. Let's go! Chris: Are you gonna pay, Natsuki? Natsuki: You're gonna pay? Natsuki: Sharla?! *Sharla laughs* Natsuki: Shut up! All: Cheers! A happy New Year! Sharla: So, the most izakaya give you a dish, when you sit down and you kind of you have to have it. You don't really get a choice and it's always something different but the one here is deep fried fish. It's called otoshi and they do charge you for it. It's kinda like a seating charge but it comes with a free dish. More often than not it's stuff that you don't really like. Sometimes it's something good but… It's usually things like this. Natsuki: I don't like! Sharla: Natsuki doesn't like it either. Chris: Is this good? You want this, Natsuki? Special roast? Sendai wagyu for 1500 yen? That's a bit cheap. *Chris laughs* Chris: So easily tempted! It's probably fake. Do you want it? Yeah! Chris: Which one do you want, Sharla? Chris: Salad! YEAH! Sharla: So this is agedashi tofu. This is what I always order when I come to an izakaya. It's probably my favorite dish. It's deep fried tofu in a soup broth with green onions and seaweed. And this one comes with ginger, which is really nice. You should definitely try it, if you come to Japan. Sharla: So much food! Chris: This is one of my favorite things. It's a rolled omelette. Look at that! Fresh, fluffy omelette complete with a knife, its upside down. Sharla: Can you make this? Chris: You bet I can! I am the omelette king! Chris: It's so fluffy. Sharla: They roll it so it's got different layers. Sharla: We ate so much! Natsuki: In Sendai, food nice! Sharla: Very nice! Natsuki: Yeah! Beautiful food. Sharla: Good! I'm glad you liked it. Natsuki is gonna go hang out at Chris's studio now. Sharla: Thanks for hanging out! Natsuki: I like Maro! Sharla: I'll have my glasses linked down below. Thank you glassesusa.com and I'll see you guys again very soon! Bye for now! Natsuki: See you again! Bye! [Music]
