  • More than $7000 for a Subway sandwich? What?

  • That's a lot of money.

  • Metro Atlanta woman reached out to our sister station after trying for nearly a month to get her money back for a $7,000 sandwich.

  • A month. - You just can't make something up this wild.

  • Consumer investigator Justin Gray made a visit to the store where the pricey sandwich was purchased.

  • I know exactly what it normally costs. It's $7.54.

  • But this time Vera Connor paid $7,112.98 for that Subway Italian sub

  • I could have gone to Italy and got the sandwich for that.

  • Instead of Italy, she went to this College Park Subway.

  • Connor only noticed the $7,000 bill later in the week when she checked her credit card statement.

  • I was like, "Oh my God how, did this happen?"

  • Look at that number on the tip line. $7105.44.

  • Those are the numbers from her phone number.

  • I was like, "Oh my god, this is my phone number. I must have been keying it in the pad and the screen's fit changed.

  • Hey there, it's Justin Gray with Channel 2. Is the manager here?

  • I left a card for the manager at this Roosevelt Highway Subway and also reached out to Subway corporate and the credit card company, Bank of America.

  • Even Subway employees were shocked by that sandwich total.

  • That's the receipt. - Oh, damn. Wow.

  • What Conor thought would be a simple fix has been anything but.

  • The store manager refused to discuss it with her and her credit card company sent this letter, denying her claim.

  • This is unbelievable because I feel like everyone that sees it has to know that it's a mistake.

  • I've worked in retail before. I know how we tally up at the end of the night.

  • Connor says she's trying to keep smiling because she can't imagine how she can pay that $7,000 credit card bill.

  • You tell me it's a good sandwich? - It ain't that good.

  • And we have now heard back from Subway who tells us they have been in touch with Connor's bank about processing a chargeback and getting that money back to her.

  • Reporting in Atlanta. I'm Justin Gray.
