  • The Elf Maiden.

  • We live in the human world, but is this the only world there is?

  • What if I told you that ours is just one world, and that there are many other worlds just like ours?

  • Won't your problems look tinier if they are?

  • What?

  • There's no milk.

  • Why does this keep happening to me?

  • What have I done so wrong?

  • Hmm, maybe not.

  • Meet Jake.

  • Jake is a doctor by profession.

  • There was a time when he was the best doctor in town.

  • Tending to other people's wounds is what he lived for.

  • Thank you!

  • But slowly, as he became richer, Jake hired other doctors and took an early retirement.

  • And now, well, he's just a rich man complaining about everything in his life.

  • Oh, all I needed was six marshmallows.

  • And what do I get?

  • Five!

  • Huh?

  • What was that?

  • But Jake always had a strange feeling, like someone was watching him.

  • Um, sire, I can add one more marshmallow if you like.

  • Huh?

  • What?

  • Um, nah, it's fine now.

  • Jake would have prodded more, but you see, he had important things to do, likeWhy is this so sweet?

  • Why can't my life be easy even for a second?

  • One day, Jake and his friends decided to go for a trip.

  • They had planned to visit an island, but while in the boat, something happened and their ship was turned to another island far away.

  • This is weird, but that's fine.

  • As long as we leave before the high tide, we should be fine.

  • The friends decided to play some games, but Jake suddenly felt too tired to do anything, and he decided to go sleep under a tree.

  • And he slept like he had never slept before.

  • Oh, wow, it's dusk already.

  • I must ask them to leave.

  • I mean, who even chose this island in the first place?

  • I should have been in charge.

  • Wait, where is everyone?

  • Huh?

  • Hello?

  • They left me!

  • They left me!

  • How could they?

  • Did no one notice I wasn't on board?

  • Aren't doctors lifesavers?

  • Did you say lifesaver?

  • Ah!

  • Who are you?

  • I am sorry.

  • I didn't mean to startle you.

  • I am Melly.

  • Melly was the elf maiden from the Realm of Elves.

  • Realm of Elves?

  • Elf maiden?

  • Is this a joke?

  • Um, I don't know who Joke is.

  • Is your name Mr. Joke?

  • What?

  • No!

  • My name is Jake.

  • Dr. Jake.

  • Oh!

  • I heard you say that you were a lifesaver.

  • I need your help.

  • My realm is gripped with a curse, and I don't know what to do.

  • Bah!

  • I'm a man of science, and I don't believe in curses.

  • Take me to your town.

  • Let me see this curse.

  • Jake was intrigued with this idea of an elf town.

  • Melly patiently ushered him to her boat.

  • As Jake saw the boat, he was sure he was imagining things.

  • For it was the most exquisite boat with the most extraordinary people in it.

  • They wore gorgeous suits and beautiful gowns.

  • Looks like everybody in every other world is better than I am.

  • Thinking that the town must be around the stream, Jake boarded the boat and sat down.

  • But before Jake could realize, the boat was flying in the air.

  • Whoa!

  • What's happening?

  • Then taking soft turns, it entered what seemed like a fissure in the sky.

  • Ah!

  • Oh!

  • Good no one was scared.

  • Jake was bewildered by what he saw.

  • It was the most beautiful place he had ever seen.

  • But something was wrong.

  • The place looked like it was dying.

  • What happened here?

  • My town was once the most beautiful town in the entire realm.

  • But a month back, something happened.

  • My townspeople are all falling sick.

  • Jake heaved a determined sigh and asked Melly to take him to the townspeople.

  • As he examined the elves one house after another, he found that they all were suffering from multiple ailments.

  • Body pain, allergies, stomach ache.

  • Hmm, I need to examine the fields and the crops.

  • I want to see what the elves have been eating and where it is coming from.

  • Jake was then taken to the farms and the storages.

  • He picked up a few grains and told Melly that he needed a lab to work in.

  • The elves were not only intelligent beings, but also resourceful.

  • They arranged everything Jake needed in under a day.

  • Jake worked for hours in his shed.

  • It was the longest in many years that he had not complained.

  • He didn't care that his shed was inside a tree, and that it smelled funny there, and that he didn't have his equipment.

  • He was focused on saving the townspeople.

  • Jake came out of the shed the next day looking messy, but truly happy.

  • Did you find the cure?

  • Yes, but I will have to talk to the townspeople first.

  • All the elves gathered near the tree within hours.

  • People of Elftown, I have not only found the cure, but have also found why you are suddenly falling sick.

  • Yay!

  • Woohoo!

  • Yay!

  • You stopped working.

  • Yes, you all loved to farm and add manures and plant food.

  • But what happened then?

  • You stopped.

  • Since you stopped doing all those things, the quality of the plants and crops deteriorated, and you stopped getting the nutrition you needed.

  • Does that mean we must always keep working to stay healthy?

  • Not exactly, Mellie.

  • But you have to continue doing what you love.

  • A peaceful mind is the reason behind a healthy body.

  • If you leave doing what you love, your mind will not be at peace, and our bodies will stay unhealthy.

  • You see, a healthy mind promotes a healthy body.

  • It's not a curse that has gripped your town.

  • It's just wrong choices.

  • Even if you cure your illness now with my medicine, you will continue falling sick unless you listen to yourself and do what you truly love.

  • The townspeople thought for a while and realized that they indeed had fallen behind in their farming and become lazy.

  • They took the medicine and promised Jake that they will make better choices.

  • Soon the time came for Jake to return home.

  • Mellie went to him.

  • Are you not happy, Jake?

  • More than happy, Mellie.

  • I am satisfied.

  • I've been complaining so much that I kept ignoring the sufferings of the others and what I can do to make them better.

  • I made the same mistake.

  • I stopped doing what truly makes me happy, helping others.

  • And now that I've helped this town get better, my sufferings feel significantly less important.

  • Phew!

  • Finally!

  • Huh!

  • Jake was shocked to see Mellie transform into a celestial being.

  • What is happening?

  • Who are you?

  • I am the Watcher of all the Realms, Jake.

  • You don't know this.

  • But you helped me once while I was on an undercover mission on Earth.

  • I have been watching you since.

  • And, well, honestly, it hasn't been rewarding to watch you complain.

  • But it was also important.

  • Why?

  • Jake, your town is taken care of.

  • They have the doctors you hired and the hospital you built.

  • But other towns and other realms need scientific inventors like yourself.

  • I had to give you a chance to rediscover your passion.

  • So, my friends never left me behind?

  • Left me behind on that island?

  • It was you!

  • Of course it was me!

  • Your friends love you!

  • Despite of your complaining nature, that is.

  • Yeah, I understand how unpleasant I have been.

  • If I am not satisfied with myself, there is nothing out in the world that can make me feel content.

  • True.

  • So tell me, Jake, will you travel with me to save other realms?

  • Jake could not believe what was happening.

  • But as he looked back at the town he had just saved, his answer became more and more clear.

  • He was ready to save the world, one patient at a time.

  • Jake looked at Melly and nodded with determination.

  • He had never felt this sense of purpose before.

  • And that is how the adventure began.

  • Jake and Melly vowed to make this entire universe better and healthier.

  • And guess what?

  • Jake never complained again.

  • I forgot my briefcase behind.

  • Why does it keep happening to me?

  • Well, not entirely.

  • Thanks for watching!
