CEO Jensen Huang said the U.S. chip maker plans to release a new family of AI chips every year faster than its previous two-year timeline. Mr. Huang also unveiled NVIDIA's next generation AI chips just three months after showcasing the latest model. Now the new set of Blackwell model announced in March is expected to be shipped to customers later this year, and an updated version called Blackwell Ultra is set to be released next year. NVIDIA's updated product timeline was unveiled during a highly anticipated speech in Taipei yesterday as CNA's Victoria Jin reports. If you think this is a rock concert, think again. Thousands of people, including the who's who of Taiwan's tech industry, packed in this auditorium in Taipei for one man, and that's NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. In his iconic black leather jacket, Mr. Huang shares his vision of AI development. For the very first time, the IT industry, which is three trillion dollars, is about to create something that can directly serve a hundred trillion dollars of industry. No longer just an instrument for information storage or data processing, but a factory for generating intelligence for every industry. Born in Tainan in southern Taiwan, the NVIDIA founder followed his family to the U.S. when he was nine. He's been back frequently, this time for Computex, the tech industry's annual trade show. During the two-hour keynote speech, he painted a future that will be revolutionized by AI. Everything is going to be robotic. All of the factories will be robotic. The factories will orchestrate robots, and those robots will be robots interacting with robots, building products that are robotic. As demand for AI applications surges, NVIDIA's stock price jumped more than 200 percent last year. Now it's one of the world's largest companies next to Apple and Microsoft. All these have made him a godlike figure in Taiwan. His latest visit received blow-by-blow coverage in local media amid the AI craze. Reporters followed him to Taipei's popular night markets and his favorite local restaurants, where he dined with the legendary Morris Chan. In a video dedicated to his birthplace, he said the island will continue to play an important role in the AI revolution. Let's continue to build a successful and prosperous industry for this AI innovation journey. Demand for AI will only continue to increase exponentially, according to Mr. Huang. AI PCs, for one, are expected to be a key driver for AI technology.
