  • Some hotels are eyeing a pick-up in demand in the coming months.

  • They say this is driven by upcoming conventions, conferences and major sporting events on the horizon.

  • Big-name concerts could also attract more visitors to Singapore.

  • Alif Almshah reports.

  • This boutique hotel, nestled in an early 20th century remittance house, is among the new entrants in the Klapke area.

  • Most of its guests come from the US, Australia and the UK.

  • Demand for its rooms have increased since April.

  • This summer holiday season, business is up by about 10 per cent.

  • April was slightly soft for most of us in the market.

  • We were driving on a high that we had in March.

  • As we all know, March had Taylor Swift for six exclusive nights, which was amazing for our city.

  • April was a real softener that hit us.

  • In general, the sentiment in the market has been a bit more positive and we do see the pace, the booking pace to be on track compared to last year and even better looking at the future.

  • In the coming three to six months, Mr Tarun expects the demand to rise by 30 per cent.

  • On the calendar, there are major events like the Singapore Grand Prix and this British pop star Dua Lipa's concert in November.

  • A list of conferences are also scheduled.

  • These events could bring more visitors into Singapore.

  • This other hotel located in Sentosa is also seeing a rising trend in reservations for the second half of the year.

  • Room bookings for the National Day weekend in August are coming in strong.

  • For example, with National Day taking place over a long weekend, we are already anticipating high occupancy over that weekend.

  • Secondly, with world-class sporting events, major MICE events and conferences as well as concerts, we're optimistic that we can tap into these opportunities to complement our still strategies.

  • The hotel says the 30-day mutual visa exemption scheme for Chinese tourists has been a bonus.

  • It's helped boost the demand for its rooms.

  • It adds that the island's new attractions like Sensorescape and Kinsania are also helping to attract visitors.
