  • It is officially summer and with warmer temperatures,

  • I think it gets a little bit trickier to dress, especially if you're like me and you like layers and you like things that kind of require a lot of stuff added to them.

  • In the summertime, we're so paired back that your pieces need to kind of be the focal point and then of course your accessories.

  • So with that in mind, as you're building out your summer wardrobe,

  • I think it's always important, like I mentioned on this channel constantly, to have a really strong focus of classics and things that you wear regardless of what's trending and then slowly inject a couple of things that feel a little bit more current.

  • And if you choose those trendier pieces with intention, then they can stick in your wardrobe for a very long time and give you just enough of an update, but still something that you can have around for many years.

  • So in today's video, I wanna go over some summer trends that you won't regret in five years.

  • These are really great if you have classic style and of course you can wear them for many years into the future.

  • So let's get started.

  • So the first summer trend that you won't regret in five years is tailored Bermuda shorts.

  • So we've seen variations of shorts over the last couple of years, but it feels like this summer in particular, tailored shorts are really, really popular and they're a little bit longer, lending themselves to that kind of Bermuda style.

  • But to get that look,

  • I think that it's important that the shorts come at least to your fingertips or slightly beyond.

  • And then to keep it really versatile, have them come just above your kneecap.

  • That is such an elegant length.

  • And if you add a couple of tailoring details, maybe belt loops, you can add a really great belt to it.

  • And then you add a really beautiful color, something really versatile and neutral for your wardrobe.

  • You can dress those up and you can dress them down.

  • And what's really great about a longer short, like a Bermuda style short, is you can keep wearing them even as you start to transition into the fall.

  • So it's a really great piece with longevity because it looks really great with sandals or little pumps like slingbacks, and then also with higher sandals like an espadrille, all the way into a taller boot as it starts to get colder.

  • So along with those tailored shorts, we're also seeing a continuation of those beautiful tailored pants.

  • These have been really popular the last couple of years.

  • And for this summer in particular, they're taking on a really sleek silhouette.

  • And then also they're available in different materials and specifically things like linen.

  • So linen is really great for the summer, especially because it's very breathable, it's very light.

  • And if you get a pair of linen pants with some of that beautiful tailoring and they feel a little bit more dressed up in the silhouette, then it kind of offsets how casual linen can be.

  • So you get the beautiful benefits of linen without feeling too relaxed.

  • And I think it's a really beautiful sweet spot.

  • And you know that I love tailored pants and having tailored pants in a couple different lengths can really serve you beautifully in your wardrobe.

  • And you can wear those regardless of trends for many, many years.

  • Now we're also seeing a continuation of that beautiful sleek nineties effect.

  • It's really classic minimalism.

  • It feels like retro Calvin Klein.

  • It feels like Rachel Green, but the colors are all very neutral and again, very versatile for your wardrobe.

  • And what's really great here is this applies to every basic.

  • And there's something really great about the nineties style that lends itself perfectly to the summer.

  • So things like really beautiful structured tank tops, again, those shorts, really beautiful pencil skirts and in varying materials and different weights, depending on the weather that you have.

  • And then I'm finding that this continues also to the accessories.

  • So very simple, but really beautiful structured bags.

  • And a structured bag is one of the fastest ways to elevate a summer outfit.

  • And especially if you feel like your outfits may be a little too casual because your arms are out and your legs are out and your toes are out, a great way to add that structure back in is through a structured bag.

  • And it doesn't add any weight.

  • It doesn't make you warm.

  • So it's a really beautiful one to consider.

  • So the next summer trend that you won't regret in five years is stripes.

  • I love stripes.

  • And when it comes to patterns in my own personal wardrobe,

  • I try to veer really classic because I want them to, again, have that longevity.

  • And stripes are a really safe bet if you feel the same way because regardless of what's popular and what's trending, stripes are always relevant.

  • So right now we're seeing a lot of versions of stripes.

  • So it's a great time to kind of get some of these into your wardrobe.

  • If maybe you're not really sure about patterns and you wanna start experimenting or you know that you love stripes, you can get some great variety here.

  • So we're seeing stripes in different thicknesses.

  • Wider tends to feel a little bit more bold and then thinner so that it almost disappears.

  • And then what's also really great is we're seeing the stripe pattern apply to different clothing items.

  • So we're seeing striped tank tops, striped dresses, striped shorts, striped pants, especially in that linen style.

  • You can get a pair of linen pants that have really beautiful long stripes on them and they're in a nice light color that is so perfect for right now.

  • It's very, very classic, but still very current.

  • And like I mentioned, as you start to transition your wardrobe into the fall, stripes can be really great if you have a striped sweater because then you can take your beautiful structured tank top, those beautiful pants, throw a striped sweater over your shoulders and you have a gorgeous outfit that transitions so beautifully.

  • So the next summer trend that I wanna talk about is a white dress.

  • And white dresses are the perfect example of this trend that's not really a trend and really it just relates to how available it is because white dresses are really classic and especially in the summer,

  • I think it's such a beautiful wardrobe staple.

  • And right now, they're everywhere and we're able to find them in so many different variations and versions and materials.

  • I'm wearing a variation myself today in order to film this video.

  • And what I love about this is you can find something in linen, cotton, like a beautiful thick poplin, or any material that you like and choose any silhouette that you want.

  • We're seeing really beautiful maxi dresses, really cute little short dresses.

  • We're seeing tube top style, kind of like strapless, also off the shoulder, puff sleeves, every variation in between.

  • Things with more romantic details and then also those that fit perfectly into that really sleek 90s minimalism.

  • There's truly something to suit everyone and it's a really nice neutral to kind of bring into your wardrobe because white dresses feel very bright and fresh and it's perfect for a one and done piece that's perfectly summer.

  • And the last summer trend that I wanna talk about is a color trend.

  • Color is something that I think is so personal and individual and you should build your wardrobe color palette with your preferences in mind.

  • But it can be difficult to find certain colors when they're not popular or trending.

  • And so right now we have a really beautiful butter yellow that's really popular.

  • And I also think a really, really gorgeous classic color.

  • You can see butter yellow in any decade, in any style, and it feels like it's so functional for so many different aesthetics.

  • So it's a nice one to consider if you wanna start bringing that color into your wardrobe.

  • What I also love about butter yellow,

  • I think I mentioned this in my color trends video at the beginning of the year, is that it's almost a neutral.

  • So depending on how bold that yellow element becomes, it kind of veers a little bit into like cream and off-white.

  • And I've seen some butter yellows that are basically indistinguishable between some cream colors.

  • So you can start to dip your toe into that.

  • But if you know that you love this color and you want something that feels perfectly like sunshine, go for something that has a lot of that yellow added into it and it's so gorgeous.

  • It's perfectly soft but it's not too feminine and it doesn't lean too aggressively one way or another and I think it's so versatile.

  • And it's also really great right now because you can find those really great little sleek suits that fit that kind of 90s minimalism.

  • They've got the shorter sleeves, the really sleek silhouette, and then those cute little skirts.

  • And then also you can carry this into your accessories.

  • And accessories is one of the easiest ways to start bringing color into your wardrobe because you don't have to worry about it taking up too much of your outfit.

  • And then if you're wearing it throughout the day and you don't really love it anymore, you can kind of hold it lower or take the scarf off or take the necklace off or the earrings off.

  • So shoes, bags, and jewelry are so perfect for this.

  • And it's one of my personal favorite colors.

  • So those are some of the top summer trends that you won't regret in five years.

  • They're classic items that are really popular right now but also really classic in their silhouette and things that you can buy with confidence to wear for more than just one season as you're building out your wardrobe with intention.

  • I would love to know which of these is your favorite.

  • And if there's any that I didn't cover that you're really looking forward to, please let me know.

  • And like always, thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in my next one.

  • Have a great day.

It is officially summer and with warmer temperatures,
