  • Hi guys, this is me Valerie, a real Prague guide. In our today's video, I'm gonna show you top 10 attractions in Prague. To make it interesting for you guys, I'm not just gonna tell you about the attraction and what's important about it, but what we like about it. By we, I mean me and the camera guy, Václav, and what we don't like about it. Because even though all these places are gonna be great, there are certain disadvantages of visiting them. So I'm gonna make sure to tell you that. Our first attraction is the Old Town Hall. I'm cheating a little with this one because it's located on the Old Town Square. So a visit here would also include visiting that landmark.

  • And you have the astronomical clock right on the tower of the Old Town Hall. So that's already three places that you can see. By the way, if you don't know how to read astronomical clock, check out this video. Old Town Hall was founded in 14th century. It consists of several buildings which are all interconnected. But not only you should look at the Old Town Hall from the outside, you can also climb the tower of the astronomical clock. You can do the tour of the interiors, as well as the underground of the Town Hall. We've done it in this video, you can check it out. You will need a ticket, but the ticket will also include the services of the tour guide. A pro tip for you guys, they do have the early bird discount if you come in the first hour of their opening hours.

  • What I don't like about visiting the Old Town Hall is that you have to pay extra for using the elevator. But don't worry, it doesn't have stairs, it just has this walkway. So it's pretty comfortable to climb. And you also get the second pro tip from Vaclav. If you want to see the astronomical clock show without so many people, because right now it's January 23rd, it's noon and you saw how many people were in front of that clock right now. So if you want to avoid that, come here at 9 a.m.

  • because the astronomical clock show runs every hour sharp from 9 a.m. till 11 p.m. Just make sure to be here at least five minutes before the start. Our list would not be complete without the oldest bridge in Prague, Charles Bridge. Charles Bridge was founded in 1357 and stood here ever since, not destroyed completely even during multiple floods and at least one major military battle. Hi to all the Swedish people watching this video! This bridge is the longest gothic bridge in

  • Europe and it's decorated with 31 statues. We've already made two videos about this landmark, so you can check those out if you want to go into the weeds. But another way of enjoying it is obviously climbing one of the towers of the Charles Bridge, either the Old Town Tower or the Lesser Town Tower.

  • One big disadvantage of Charles Bridge is that it gets really crowded as the day progresses, so our pro tip would be for you to visit it as early as you can. In summer you can try to be here between 6 or 7 a.m. and in winter it's enough if you are here at 8 a.m.

  • Our next attraction is the National Museum, a great indoor place to learn about Czech history.

  • I'm cheating a little bit here because National Museum has several branches, but you might want to start with the main building of the National Museum located on the Wenceslas Square. It has many exhibitions and you can also go upstairs to see the view of the Wenceslas Square from its dome.

  • Beware that the National Museum gets really crowded on the admission-free days and Czech national holidays, so if you are visiting during that time, at least purchase tickets online, because you will avoid the queues that way. Prague has a lot of parks, but the most famous one is

  • Petřín Park, located on Petřín Hill of course. You might recognize it because of the miniature copy of the Eiffel Tower called Petřín Tower. Pro tip, if you don't want to climb Petřín Hill, you can either take a funicular from Újezd stop or take tram 22 to Strahov Monastery and walk from there. One thing we don't like about Petřín, or more specifically Petřín Tower, is that you have to pay extra for using the elevator, but I suppose it's fair. And now to one of the most beautiful top attractions in Prague, Municipal House. What's great about Municipal House is that you can visit it in many different ways. First, you can admire it from the outside, or you can go to one of its cafes or restaurants. Another way of experiencing Municipal House is going to a classical concert, because it does have the biggest concert hall in the Czech Republic, called Smetana Hall. Very impressive. And lastly, you can take a tour of the interiors of the

  • Municipal House and see its most beautiful rooms. It costs 320 crowns for a one-hour tour, and if you are a fan of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, you will totally enjoy it. Of course, we had to include Prague Castle to our list. Many of you already know that it's the biggest ancient still functioning castle complex in the world, according to Guinness Book of Records. I will never get tired of saying that. We made an update about visiting Prague Castle quite recently, so if you are planning to visit it, please check it out. You will learn about new things that happened there. For the purpose of this video, I will just mention that the only con of visiting

  • Prague Castle is how crowded it gets, but there are definitely ways of how you can avoid it. We also talked about it in our new video, so check it out. Another must-visit indoor site in Prague is the National Gallery. We've visited the Trade Fair Palace in our indoor activities video, but you can also check out St. Agnes Monastery if you like Gothic art, or join me on Hraciany

  • Square, because I recently visited Schwarzenberg Palace to see Baroque art. You can also check out

  • Sternberg Palace, also located on Hraciany Square. It's just a little more hidden, because you have to go downhill here, right next to the Archbishop's Palace. They have Renaissance art there, but I went just for a coffee place. I will say though that if you are visiting Schwarzenberg or Sternberg Palace, you will just need an hour or two for the whole visit. So if you want to spend more time, I would just recommend going to Prague 7 for their biggest branch, but if you have just an hour or two for your gallery visit, Hraciany Square will do. A more hidden top site in Prague is Visegrad, and guess what? We made a whole video about it last year. So if you want more tips on how to visit Visegrad, and what you can see there, check it out. Our second last attraction is the Jewish Museum of

  • Prague, and I'm cheating here again, because Jewish Museum, which is located in the Jewish Quarter, doesn't just include one building, it's all of the historical synagogues, the old Jewish cemetery, and the ceremonial hall. So what we like about this place is that you can simply walk around and see everything from the outside, but if you want you can also splurge and get a ticket to see all of these museums and exhibitions. It might take you a couple days, but the ticket will be valid for longer than 24 hours. And last but definitely not least, St. Nicholas Church of the Lesser Town. That last part, Lesser Town, is very important, because there is another church of St. Nicholas on the opposite side of the river, and you don't want to mix them up. There are more confusing places that we have in Prague, and for that we made this video. You can check it out later. You can of course admire St. Nicholas Church from the outside, but we highly recommend buying a ticket and checking out the stunning baroque interiors of the St. Nicholas Church. The frescoes are especially impressive. Don't forget to go up to the gallery to see them even closer.

  • Little warning, the entrance ticket to the St. Nicholas Church does not include the tower of the church, because historically they were not connected. Okay, I will tell you, there was a little rivalry between people who were building the church and people who lived around the church, so they demanded that the bell tower has a separate entrance. So it is actually not connected with the interior of the church at all. We just passed by to see how much is the entrance to the

  • St. Nicholas Church tower, and it is 50 crowns more expensive than the church itself, which doesn't seem logical considering the fact that you will not get the full view, not 360, just maybe 200 or 180. I am not blindsided by this.
