  • Hi and welcome back to my YouTube channel.

  • This is Perfumerism and today I'm going to talk to you about my favorite fragrances for the summer.

  • You might notice that this is a bit of a different background and that's because I moved.

  • I recently graduated university and so I'm back in my parents' house right now and finding a room with privacy and all this stuff to film in has been a little bit difficult so hopefully this is okay.

  • My neighbors are mowing their lawn right now, which didn't really work out with my schedule.

  • I sat it out for a little while and now I'm going to go back to telling you guys my favorite fragrances for the summertime and these are what I recommend.

  • The first fragrance that I really want to talk about is Aquamedia Cologne Forte.

  • This is from MFK, so it's the same perfumer who made Pocahontas Rouge.

  • It has bergamot, verbena, I think like fennel in this fragrance, soapy, clean scent.

  • It kind of reminds me of green tea from Elizabeth Arden, fresh feeling, and this is perfect because it's so long-lasting, it smells really clean, so if you're the kind of person who wants to go out in the summertime and just smell clean and have one of these kind of like bubbly, fairy-like fragrances with notes of matcha tea, this is a really beautiful fragrance and I just think it's special.

  • It's so overlooked, no one ever really talks about it, but it's one of my favorite scents and the dry down is so pretty, so definitely recommend that one.

  • Another one of my favorites that I will go through pretty quickly because I talk about it all the time is Bamboo Harmony by Killian.

  • This is another like fresh bamboo tea, bergamot, citrus scent.

  • Fresh and awakening and bright and it's just my easiest like grab-and-go scent.

  • I wear this to the gym and I find in the summertime I like to smell fresh and clean, especially living in a humid environment.

  • I like fragrances that smell like they're cutting through the humidity and they're just fresh and clean and they're gonna last, they're not just gonna evaporate right off of me, and I get that all with Bamboo Harmony.

  • The bottle is completely empty, I need to purchase a backup, but this is currently one of my favorite summer scents.

  • And I wear it throughout the whole year too because I like to wear it as a gym perfume, but in the summer I'll wear it anytime.

  • I have a whole bag of fragrances that I want to talk about and I don't know if I'm gonna feature them all in this video because I have so many picks, but let's get into it.

  • Another fragrance that I really like and wanted to recommend was Burberry Goddess.

  • This is a vanilla scent.

  • There's something about this that reminds me of like a really nice shampoo.

  • There's a bit of ginger and lavender in the opening and I wouldn't say I really smell lavender, but like there's something this color of the bottle, like this reflective gold, like this perfume is fresh, a little aromatic, it's sweet, but it's not too sweet and it has a really pretty bubble around you.

  • I find that the perfume is not suffocating, it feels like it lifts me up, it's very fresh and it really lasts on me and I find that when the summertime comes, it's hotter outside, your perfume evaporates more quickly, so one of my criteria for summer perfumes is generally longevity to an extent.

  • I get that with this one, which I really really like.

  • This is more of that gourmand vanilla kind of pick, and it's beautiful all year round, but in the summer I do really really like it.

  • This is a more bougie pick, but it's definitely one of my favorites.

  • This is actually from a brand called Mind Games, and this is a fragrance called Blockade.

  • This is a tropical, fruity mango scent with a bit of tomato leaf.

  • It's one of the most interesting fragrance breakdowns when I look at the notes that I've ever seen.

  • I just don't really know anything that smells like this.

  • It's a really green mango, you get an earthy woodiness in the background, like maybe a patchouli.

  • I get a bubbly citrus, like a blood orange or a grapefruit, and a green mango.

  • It's not ripe, it's not fresh, it's green.

  • Maybe I smell vines in here.

  • When I put it on my skin, it's like the most elegant juicy fruit that you've ever smelled.

  • Like there's notes of juicy fruit, but with these green, vine, earthy, woody, forest-like notes.

  • And again, this is a performer, this is a projector.

  • I find this to be a masterpiece.

  • I don't know anything that smells like this, so this is an interesting, unique summer pick.

  • Another fragrance type that I really like is something that reminds me of a fruity cocktail.

  • Like if I imagine myself on a beach, someone would come over to me with a cocktail or just a mix of fruits.

  • I find that fruit is one of my favorite notes for the summertime.

  • And I really like this one, which is called Fruit du Dragon.

  • This is from Le Monde Gourmand, which they sell at Urban Outfitters.

  • It's so juicy and fruity and fun.

  • It's sweet.

  • I smell like strawberry in here, berries, I'm smelling like pink or purple, Kool-Aid.

  • And there's a freshness.

  • It smells like there's water on top of the berries and sugar.

  • And they're generally a more affordable price point, and I think this is a really nice, more affordable scent that I like from this brand.

  • Another fragrance that I wanted to give a shout out to, also from the same brand, so in that same affordable vein, but along the line of one of my favorite notes for like summer fresh warm scents, is Teh Matcha from Le Monde Gourmand, which I talk about this all the time.

  • Don't get this expecting it to smell like green tea, because it doesn't.

  • It couldn't smell more different from green tea.

  • This is like a soapy, green, bubbly scent.

  • Like this is more of that clean girl aesthetic.

  • Fits into the character of, it's the summer, I'm going to be sweating if I'm outside, and

  • I want to smell clean.

  • I want something that's going to make me smell hygienic.

  • And this is a clean, soapy, bathroom kind of smell.

  • It's a little green, but there's hints of like floral, it's a little bubbly, soapy, and fresh.

  • So I get some like citrus, bergamot in here.

  • I wouldn't say it really smells like matcha to me, but it just smells clean and bright.

  • Like I just got out of the shower.

  • So it's one of those scents that for the summertime, it's a really easy reach, it's affordable, and you can kind of just like put it all over, which I like.

  • Next one is one of my all time favorite scents ever.

  • It's funny because this scent has just grown on me more and more, and the more I wear it, the more I'm addicted to it.

  • And it's so funny because when I look at the note breakdown, this is never something I ever would have asked for.

  • It's not something I would have picked out on my own, I don't think.

  • And if I had a perfumer make me a perfume thinking of like, okay, what's going to be my perfect summer scent?

  • This would not be what I would think of, but this is my perfect summer scent.

  • It's good all year round, but especially love it in the summer.

  • This is from Axna Hilo, and the fragrance is called Vesper Glitz.

  • This fragrance is supposed to smell like a night out in Paris.

  • It actually looks like Prosecco to me.

  • Something about the color of the bottle is reminiscent of a champagne.

  • This fragrance has so much interest.

  • This fragrance is kind of exactly what I like about Delina, but it doesn't smell like Delina at all.

  • Funny enough, it centers around a fragrance note that I don't feel especially fond of, which is Ylang Ylang.

  • It has a bit of pink pepper in the opening, so when you smell it, it's not too peppery.

  • The pepper doesn't take over, and it doesn't go spicy, but it goes interesting.

  • There's really that opening to this fragrance that hooks you in.

  • You open it, you smell a little bit of the pink pepper.

  • This was my scent of the day today.

  • There's a bit of, I think, some mandarin in the opening, so it's a little orangey, citrusy.

  • There's that freshness, there's that interest.

  • It's just such good perfumery.

  • It's not a linear fragrance.

  • It changes on the skin, but it's not, I don't know, it doesn't change to me in a way that

  • I would ever dislike.

  • There's a little bit of vanilla and tonka bean at the base, which I love.

  • I love that they use tonka bean because I find it's like a more warmth from within, which perfectly goes with this, because this is not a vanilla scent, this is not a gourmand.

  • But if you like delena, I think you'd like this, because delena is one of those notes that, you know, it has the addiction to it, but it's not gourmand, and it's not linear.

  • One thing I love about delena, and the reason I'm making this comparison is because delena is a scent that is super long-lasting, and it has a top-middle base.

  • If you were to spray delena on you and then check in every 15 minutes for the next 8 hours, you'd smell different every time.

  • It really changes and develops, and it's like a movie, and that's one of the reasons I love delena.

  • It's one of the reasons that I love this.

  • You get the pink pepper, you get ylang-ylang, tonka bean at the base, there's so much happening in this, and it's not even notes that particularly would have stood out to me, but oh my goodness, it's so good.

  • And when I first smelled this, I made comparisons in my head to Lieb from Yves Saint Laurent.

  • The more I smell this, the less I see the comparison, and I love Lieb, it's one of my favorite scents, but this is just, it's such a masterpiece, and I love this fragrance so much.

  • I don't know, I recommend it, and I think it's perfect for the summertime.

  • It goes beautifully from day to night, and it lasts on me, which I love, so Vesperglitz is one of my favorite scents for summer.

  • Let's go back to gourmand scents.

  • If you like vanilla, if you like to smell sweet, but you don't want something that's gonna choke you out or suffocate you at all, I really like the Hard to Get fragrance from

  • Forever in Your Mood.

  • This is Jackie Aina's fragrance.

  • It's glass.

  • This is a whipped, creamy vanilla scent with notes of citrus and jasmine, and I wouldn't say I smell the jasmine in this at all.

  • It's the most beautiful, super creamy, but not heavy, dense creamy, not suffocating creamy, because cream can be very thick.

  • It's like a fluffy, whipped vanilla.

  • It has that creaminess, you know, it's rounded, it's not sharp, it's not hard around any edges.

  • It's this beautiful, fluffy vanilla, like if you took vanilla and then just infused it with gold and woke it up in the middle of the night, that's what this smells like.

  • It's so beautiful and so addictive.

  • I know people have made comparison to Devotion by Dolce & Gabbana, which I find that fragrance to be a little sickeningly sweet.

  • I love it, but it's thick.

  • It's not necessarily something I would go for for summer.

  • This is a more fresh take on it without being too citrusy.

  • It's not abrasive, beautiful and fluffy and whipped and sweet, which I love.

  • I think it's so beautiful and I love this one.

  • Ooh, okay.

  • This is for my coconut lovers.

  • This is a really interesting pick, and I remember I used to see this talked about all over on

  • YouTube.

  • And it's really such an interesting fragrance concept and fragrance in general.

  • And this is Carnal Flower from Frederic Malle, and I just have it in the mini here.

  • This fragrance is inspired by the signals that a plant gives out when it's damaged.

  • So basically, plants have pheromones that when they're cut or anything like that happens, they'll release these pheromones to signal to other plants like, hey, I'm hurt.

  • And this is using these carnal signals from flower to flower.

  • I believe that it's indole to wear on people.

  • So I find that interesting that there's kind of this botany, plant, carnal aspect.

  • And this is like a coconut-y, white floral scent.

  • It's very tropical.

  • I heard someone say on TikTok recently, I don't know if it was Scout or if it was Tracy, said that everything beautiful should have something a little gross in it.

  • That's what indole smells like, and I'm not 100% sure that it is indole in this.

  • There's something a little gross in this, but overall it's this really beautiful coconut white floral scent.

  • It's really not anything I've ever smelled before.

  • It smells interesting.

  • It smells grown.

  • I would say this is not blind by safe, not that any of these particularly are.

  • It's just an interesting, complex floral scent that I find very interesting.

  • A fragrance that I recently got fromgime des Fleurs is called Cacti.

  • This is an absolutely stunning bottle.

  • It is so cute.

  • And this is a watery tea, cucumber scent with cactus notes and I think maybe aloe.

  • It's really wet and green and fresh.

  • This is one that's super long lasting and I can be a little headache prone sometimes, so this is one that I have to make sure I don't go too hard on, but I would say otherwise it's just a beautiful fragrance.

  • I think it's so special and I love this one.

  • This is one of my classic, like Emma, traditional go-to summer scents, and this is Light Blue

  • Intense from Dolce & Gabbana.

  • I know Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, the original, is kind of like the OG summer perfume, but

  • I just find that the green apple note in here makes it so much better.

  • This is fresh, it's lemony, but it's not cleaning product-like, in my opinion.

  • I get so many compliments on this and for some reason, men love this.

  • Like whenever I wear it, if I wear it on a date or anything like that, I always get so many compliments.

  • I don't know if it's just that it smells clean, like I think we have these associations with citrusy, fresh scents, but there's something so beautiful to this.

  • And I actually met a perfumer, she's French, and she moved to America.

  • She said that since moving to America, she noticed that there's apple in everything.

  • When she gets coffee from popular coffee chains, they taste a little bit like apple.

  • Chai tastes a little bit like apple in the States.

  • Through being a perfumer and being very in touch with her senses, she's noticed that in America, people love apple.

  • Popular hand soaps, popular shampoos, apple is everywhere.

  • And she picks up on these things that even I wouldn't have picked up on because her nose is attuned to those things.

  • So she made this accord that is like an American gourmand, and it's vanilla with a little bit of apple.

  • And I just find it interesting because this is a citrusy scent with a little bit of green apple.

  • I get so many compliments on it, and compliments from men.

  • Having studied the science behind perfume, our olfactive imprint, the way that we think about smells, the way that we associate smells, completely has to do with our scents and our associations and what we've been exposed to in our lives, and what memories have been present when we've been exposed to certain scents.

  • So if us as Americans, I mean I'm Canadian, are constantly exposed to apple in the coffee that we drink and our hand soap and our shampoo and all the foods that we eat have this little apple note in them, it would make sense that this addition of the apple to this DNA would be something that would just cause it to be so much more liked.

  • Maybe that's it, maybe that's not, that's just my little theory, but I find this to be a beautiful scent.

  • I get so many compliments, and I love it a lot more than the original light blue, and it lasts longer too.

  • Okay, I have still quite a few more fragrances, but I'm gonna try to go quickly through them because I have so many, and I feel like I've talked about these a lot already.

  • One that I really like is Ellis Brooklyn Myth.

  • This is the lotus fragrance, and lotus is one of those scents that to me I associate with being clean.

  • There's Ambrette.

  • This fragrance smells like what I would imagine a crystal smelling like.

  • This fragrance, if it looked like something, it would look like a crystal, and it smells like a bubble bath, and I think it's a floral scent, but to me it doesn't read floral, it doesn't read flowers, it doesn't read garden.

  • It's like soapy.

  • I feel like I'm suds up, like this smells like the bubble emoji.

  • A lot of people who work in healthcare say that even though they technically can't wear fragrance, they'll wear this perfume and get away with it and get compliments, which I'm not condoning that, but I know a lot of people who don't necessarily like to wear perfume or wear perfumey scents like to wear this, and the reason why I'm recommending that for the summertime is because sometimes the summer makes your perfume so much more cloying and so much stronger, so if you wear something that's a little more soft and subtle like this, it might be perfect for the summertime.

  • Alright, I have three fragrances from Parfum de Marley, and I'm just gonna do them all together.

  • I wanted to talk about Delina La Rosé, which I don't actually have, so I'm holding the

  • Delina Exclusive bottle.

  • Delina La Rosé is Delina, but with watery notes.

  • I think there's pear in it too.

  • This is not Delina La Rosé, but I actually have a bottle of Delina La Rosé coming in the mail.

  • It's coming on like Wednesday, but I'm filming this on Saturday and I could not wait.

  • If you don't like the sharp rhubarb, lychee notes in Delina, you find them abrasive.

  • This one doesn't have that as much.

  • It's just like fresh, clean, watery, and it's a perfume that I have so many fond memories with.

  • I remember going to British Columbia and being stuck in the mountains, being on my own and wearing Delina La Rosé, and kind of just like, I discovered audiobooks at that time and I was listening to Daisy Jones and the Six, and just like, I don't know, it was just happy because it was a really cold and long winter, and then suddenly like here I am in the mountains.

  • It was like the first flight I ever took on my own.

  • I was newly single.

  • Just really good scent memories of this fragrance for me, as well as the fact that it's a very good scent and it's super long-lasting.

  • Another one I wanted to say so quickly is Valaya because this is an aldehyde-based fragrance that has notes of like a green or white peach.

  • It's a laundry-like, white, clean, peach scent.

  • Projects super far.

  • It lasts a really long time.

  • It's in the more heart-green note.

  • Like if you like the smell of flowers mixed with the smell of unripe peaches, or like if you're the kind of person that when you eat dessert, the best compliment is, oh, it's not too sweet.

  • This is your type of scent because it's not sweet, it's more green, but it still has the like fruits and flowers and these kind of notes, but they're not sweet.

  • They're not overripe.

  • They're kind of just blooming, just underripe.

  • So beautiful scent.

  • Very long-lasting and projects.

  • Finally, I just want to talk about Perseus.

  • This is very similar to Terre d'Hermes.

  • I just don't have Terre d'Hermes and I love this scent.

  • It's more masculine-leaning.

  • I share it with my boyfriend.

  • This is vetiver.

  • It's woody and it has the super yummy citrus note.

  • There's something nostalgic to this to me too.

  • Like, I don't know what it reminds me of, but there's something about this.

  • It's fresh, but it feels very safe and like comforting.

  • Reminds me of like herbs or cooking spices or like a garden.

  • I said this was somewhere between outdoorsy, forest man, the granola stripped down scent.

  • Like he's been in the forest.

  • It's a little woody and fresh.

  • I said this was like somewhere between like cocktail and forest because it has that like fresh bergamot note, but I wouldn't say that this is overall a citrus profile because there's so much in the back.

  • There's so much vetiver, so much woods, a little bit of a green fougere aspect, but overall beautiful scent and I really like it.

  • This is a bit of a harder pick.

  • It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it very interesting.

  • And this is called Sunray from Varejo, which is a turmeric scent.

  • It's this yellow color and there's actually like a Herkimer diamond in here.

  • I don't know if you can see it like moving around.

  • This is like a really fresh gingery turmeric scent.

  • It really smells like the color yellow.

  • It's uplifting.

  • It's not particularly sweet.

  • It's just like zesty and I found that I reach for this a lot last summer when I didn't have air conditioning and I was like, oh my God, something lift me up.

  • Something hydrate me, something, something bring me out of this like yucky humid mess and this fragrance shot through that.

  • So I loved it for that.

  • It's also like interesting if you're into crystals or anything like that.

  • This brand is very spiritual.

  • So all their fragrances are made to be mood lifting and they really look into all the emotional background of the notes to see, okay, what's going to make you happy.

  • So this is specifically formulated to make you happy and maybe that's why I liked it.

  • Maybe it did make me happy because of that.

  • It smells like turmeric and ginger and I personally love those notes.

  • I love like a fresh zesty zingy note, but it's not gourmand.

  • It's not particularly sweet.

  • It's just like interesting.

  • I don't know.

  • I just find this to be very nice and I think it's cool and it's very like spiritual brand.

  • So I think it's cool.

  • And then finally, Libertine from Maker.

  • This is one of my favorites, star fruit, lemon zest, beautiful scent.

  • I wear it to the gym.

  • It's one of my biggest dented perfumes of all time.

  • If you like a citrus scent, this is a great citrus.

  • It's one of my favorites.

  • I gave a bottle to my boyfriend.

  • Now it's his signature scent.

  • One of my favorite scents.

  • With that, I think I will end the video.

  • I think I went over tons of fragrances.

  • We got citrus.

  • We had a bit of gourmand scents.

  • I will be trying to post more videos this summer.

  • I have a little more free time and I have tons of discovery sets.

  • So I'm going to think maybe I'm going to try to do two videos per week if I can.

  • One video will just be like a topic of interest like this.

  • And then every week I think I'm going to also try to do like a discovery set.

  • I posted yesterday on the YouTube community thing a list of all the discovery sets that

  • I have.

  • And I asked you guys to tell me what one you want to do.

  • Navitus, I have the Maker, Lorenzo Bersaglia.
