  • 10,000 hours for achievement. 10,000 hours for achievement is based on the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

  • Gladwell is a highly known journalist who wrote a couple of other books and he is also the one who has the first to introduce the 10,000 hour rule.

  • And what the rule really says is that if you put 10,000 hours in something, a skill or a niche, you will become great in this.

  • Most people think that successful people, the outliers, become great by a series of big events or that they just had the great hit.

  • But the opposite is true.

  • What people really make outliers is work.

  • Putting in the work makes all the difference. 10,000 hours is the magic number that makes an ordinary person great.

  • Outliers reach their incredible status by a combination of born ability, opportunity and an utterly arbitrary advantage.

  • This is what people see at the surface.

  • And this seems to be true, but what people never see is the hard work behind the scenes.

  • The grinding to make an average ability into a worthy skill.

  • The hours of studying to recognize the opportunity and then when they have reached that point, the hours upon hours of just executing the work.

  • And then you can say they have been lucky.

  • And maybe they sometimes are a little bit, but I think we can all agree that they made their own luck.

  • To be very clear, to become successful, you first need to practice a skill to develop from average to great.

  • Therefore it's handy to pick your best skill, because that saves time.

  • So pick your one strength, but let it also be the skill that you like the most.

  • Because if you have to put so many hours in it, well, you could say that you won't be happy if you do something you don't like, right?

  • And then you will recognize your chance and then you need to put in your 10,000 hours.

  • And if you do it this way, you are bound to be successful.

  • So please, come off that chair and start putting in the work.

  • Because 10,000 hours is five years practicing for eight hours a day.

  • How much is five years if you're set for a lifetime?

  • Thanks for your attention, and as always, get your ass into action.
