Ready?
Let's chat. Ever catch yourself just going through the motions of your day?
You know, from the second you open your eyes to that moment you finally collapse back into bed?
Oh, absolutely.
We all have those little routines and habits—some we create intentionally and others just sneak up on us.
Whether we realize it or not, they shape how our days flow. Exactly.
So today, we're diving into daily routines: morning, noon, and night.
Michael and I will share how we structure our time, and hopefully, you'll get some ideas for your own day.
Even small changes can make a huge difference. Let's start with the morning.
Jess, how do you begin your day? Well, I wake up pretty early, around 6 a.m.
But before I even get out of bed, I do some light stretching. Oh, that's a nice way to ease into the day.
Do you check your phone first thing? Nope.
I avoid it because I don't want to start my day feeling overwhelmed.
Instead, I take a few minutes to just breathe and wake up naturally. What about you? I wake up around 6:15, and the first thing I do is head straight to the bathroom.
I wash my face with cold water.
It really wakes me up. Ooh, that sounds refreshing.
Do you drink water in the morning, too? Yes.
I have a glass of room-temperature water with lemon.
It helps with hydration and kick-starts my metabolism.
Then I grab my coffee.
I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning. Ah, coffee is a must.
But before breakfast, I do a 10-minute mindfulness meditation to clear my mind.
Then I do some light yoga to stretch out my body. That's a great way to set a positive tone for the day.
My morning's a bit different.
I make breakfast while my coffee brews.
Usually, it's oatmeal with fruit and nuts.
What do you have? I love scrambled eggs or avocado toast with fruit.
And while I cook, I put on some music or a podcast to create a good atmosphere. Nice.
After breakfast, I take a warm shower and review my day's plan. Do you plan your day in the morning? Actually, I plan the night before.
So in the morning, I just focus on getting energized. Oh, and I finish my shower with 30 seconds of cold water. Whoa, that's intense. Now, let's talk about the afternoon.
How do you stay productive? I schedule short breaks throughout the day.
Phone reminders help.
During breaks, I do deep breathing or have a mindful cup of tea.
It helps me reset. That sounds really calming.
I try to avoid an afternoon slump by taking a short walk after lunch.
And I use the Pomodoro technique: 25 minutes of focused work, then a short break. That's smart.
I also make a list of my top three priorities for the afternoon to stay on track. Love that.
Now let's talk about winding down in the evening.
How do you shift from work to personal time? I start by reviewing my day and moving any unfinished tasks to tomorrow's to-do list.
Then I go for a walk or do some stretching to transition from work mode to relaxation. That makes sense.
I like to tidy up, especially the kitchen.
A clean space helps me feel more at ease. Absolutely.
I also make dinner a phone-free, TV-free zone to focus on mindful eating.
I love trying out new recipes. That's great.
After dinner, I might read, watch a show, or call a friend—whatever helps me unwind. Me too.
Now, night routines.
What's your secret to good sleep? I start winding down around 9 p.m. by dimming the lights and putting my phone in another room to avoid distractions. Same here.
I also take a warm shower, change into comfy clothes, and write in my journal.
Sometimes I jot down things I'm grateful for.
It helps me end the day on a positive note. I like that.
If I have a lot on my mind, I make a quick to-do list for the next day just to clear my head before bed. That's a great habit.
From morning stretches to evening wind-down rituals, daily routines really shape our well-being. Definitely.
So what about you, listeners?
